there's no way im going back there
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/07
i hate everything!!! from the rooms to the food, i cant imagine we decided to stay there. even my friend was disappointed. for example, if u want a new bath towel you still need to call them few times for them to send it to you. even the toilet tissue goodness it takes more than 7 hours before they send it over. they need to improve their service

Excellent place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/7/07
The service is incredible. It starts with the politely responsive staff at the front entrance and the check in desk and then extends to everything else we needed. The rooms are spotless with very tasteful decor and comfortable furniture. The beds especially are very comfortable. Slept like a log. The restaurant has excellent food and service. Can't beat the location either. We will be heading back to this hotel next trip to London. A bit pricey but worth it.

Oh, beautiful hotel
By SUDOKU, 6/27/06
I go to work often in London, and the best hotel experience I had was the Sofitel St James. Now, I was extremely lucky that my company was paying for it, because it is 5 star and its price reflects that, of course

Wow!
By KC, 1/14/06
Impeccable service and quality. Felt lucky to have stayed there on business, as it's out of my price range for a pleasure trip. Could not have asked for a better place to stay. Perfect from top to bottom.

Stunning Class
By Zarjaz2000AD, 10/2/05
It takes luxury to a whole new level. The inner decor is superb. Their style is Edwardian and creates an atmosphere of classic nobility. The staff are very friendly and helpful, although slightly aloof (which is a symptom of the type of hotel one is in). Prices are very high, in comparison to similar places such as the Dorchester. The restaurant has a great variety of food and the chef is excellent.

AMAZING COMFORT!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/19/05
The lobby, the rooms, and everything about the hotel was classy, clean, and comfotable. The rooms are nicely done with a contemporary flare while maintaining the coziness that many modern hotels fail to maintain. And the beds were AMAZING! After traveling for so many days, it was nice to finally sleep on a comfortable bed. Stay here and you won't be displeased.

5 star all-around
By Sarita, 9/9/04
I go to work often in London, and the best hotel experience I had was the Sofitel St James. Now, I was extremely lucky that my company was paying for it, because it is 5 star and its price reflects that, of course.

The location is right next to some nice opera places, and the St. James Park and Buckingham Palace. You are walking distance from the Piccadilly Circus tube station. I had a standard hotel room, and the bathroom was better than I could ever hope for in my own house. The bathroom has white french doors in the hallway, a bathtub and separate standing showering area enclosed with glass. If you're jetlagged, the gym is open 24 hours, and there are trainers there during limited hours (I think 6am to 6pm). If you like to go jogging, you can go to the St. James Park, just a block away and down some stairs. A nice circuit to run is going south in the park down to Buckingham Palace and back to your hotel. Great to be able to get fit and sightsee at the same time!

Felt Like Home
By David, 9/2/04
I stayed here for a week on a business trip and while the prices were a bit steep the service and amenities made up for it. The hotel staff was incredibly helpful and courteous and the room was immaculate. The one downfall would be the small gym but as is the case with many London hotels. This will be my first choice in the future.

Amazing location and gorgeous atmosphere
By Lara Daniels, 9/1/04
I loved this place. The concierge and staff were extremely helpful, and the rooms themselves were amazing. Little details, from the welcome note on the desk to the daily flyer notifying you of the next day's predicted weather went to make my stay extra special. The Rose Room, located within the hotel, was also a perfect place to relax and have high tea. Located within walking distance to Trafalgar Square and Buckingham palace, I couldn't ask for a better stay.

All around great experience!
By Nancy, 9/1/04
I spent 6 nights at the Sofitel in April of '04. Wonderful service, really comfortable and beautiful rooms, great room service, fun/relaxing bar! The hotel is gorgeous and such a welcoming vibe. I have stayed at the Sofitel in NYC a few times and always get amazing service there as well. Great location near Trafalgar Square. One amenity I must rave about, is the high speed internet service...from what I hear, many hotels in London do not provide this and it was a must for a long business trip. It was great to be in such an old city, yet stay in a place with all modern amenities (but charming as well).
