A relaxing vacation
By Christine, 09/24/09
Turtle Cay is in a great location, across from the beach but outside the downtown. The staff was very helpful and the pool is great for families. When we arrived we were first given a room that hadn't been cleaned. The staff imediately gave us a new room. The rooms are very spacious. We had a one bedroom unit and the major complaint is that the bedroom faces the street instead of the pool. It is surrounded by busy streets that are noisy. Which was tough with a one year old. For those who get up early you couldn't leave the unit without walking through the bedroom, which would wake up those still sleeping. We had a great vacation and would definately come back again. I liked that it wasn't your typical hi-rise hotel.

So relaxing!!
By Katrina, 04/24/09
Turtle Cay was great! Very secure parking lot, and beautiful rooms. It was just like home all the amentities that you have at home and more. The pool was great and the employees were very friendly and helpful. It was definately well worth the money and has so much more to offer than others in the area with higher prices. The only negative feedback that I have is regarding the hot water. If you use the jacuzzi in the room, you will have to go without hot water for a few minutes after that. But otherwise it was great. Close to everything, and great for couples who just want to get away and relax!! Two thumbs up to Turtle Cay Resort!!

Paper thin walls
By Jean, 12/08/08
The walls are paper thin. You can hear the people next door as if they where in your room. The rooms are very nice just the rooms that ajoined need better nose control. The staff is really nice.

A little bit like home.
By PatrickA, 07/22/08
We just returned from a wonderful stay at this resort. If we decide to return to Virginia Beach, this would definitely be the place we'd stay! We had plenty of room in our 1 bedroom unit. The staff was very friendly and helpful to us. The pool area was great for both the kids and us parents as we could keep an eye on everyone. The entire place seemed to be secure with the parking garage underground and the staff outside at the pool, and moving around the property at all hours of the day and night. We did have a toilet overflow but it was quickly cleaned up. It seemed to be flushing slowly before and after this problem, so I will assume they may have some plumbing issues. With the bedroom right at the doorway we did hear alot of outside activity, but I believe that is due to the seal around the door not sealing like it should. The noise on Saturday evening came from loud bikes and stereos, (which I think is a problem the city should deal with) but not once did I wake up from it. I did hear the trash trucks early in the morning, but I was already up by then. The biggest noise problem would be the Navy jets that seemed to fly over at all hours of the day and night. My wife was discouraged about the place not being on the beach before we went, but she didn't mind the short walk over to the beach from the resort once we got there. We went down to Virginia Beach for a dance competition and were skeptical about the area from the reviews we had read about the city and some of the places that we had thought about staying, but once we got there, we realized that everything is not as it had seemed. Sure, there were some seedy areas and the heart of the strip was very busy (especially during the weekend), but overall we loved the place. The convention center was awesome, the beach was clean, boardwalk spacious and very lively, and the Atlantic Avenue free entertainment was lots of fun. We actually bought a CD from a couple Bolivian musicians (they are awesome!). They have live entertainment at stages along the boardwalk every night. You can buy just about anything you need (or want!) along the shops on Altantic and Pacific Aves. There is an amusement park with several rides. All in all, we had a wonderful time and look forward to our next visit to the area, and hopefully to Turtle Cay Resort.

Nice and clean!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/16/08
We just returned from Turtle Cay and our stay was pleasant. The staff is very helpful and courteous and the rooms are extremely clean. Only negative about the place is the noise coming from the street. You have busy streets on all four sides of the complex and the bedrooms are on the street side so unless you are a heavy sleeper you don't get much sleep. . The air conditioning system backs up to the bedroom and is terribly loud!! The "boardwalk" is right across the street and that's great! All in all we had fun!!

We won't go back
By KAREN, 11/24/07
The location is good but it does not have any ocean view. It is across the street from the ocean. However, it has a number of quality issues. It is clean but clearly it tries to save $$ at every turn. For instance, the water heater is so small it can't give enough hot water to fill the jacuzzi tub. The towels are Motel 6 quality. The pool towels are smaller than bath towels and thin. There is no high speed internet except in the lobby. The chairs by the table are uncomfortable, so forget about working while you're here. You enter through the bedroom so know there is little privacy in the bedroom if people are coming and going. I hope this is helpful

We'll be back this summer!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/07
We stayed at Turtle Cay the weekend of 10/21/07. We had such a great time there. We had the king size suite that was nice and clean. The jacuzzi tub was a blast. The water remain hot after we got out the jacuzzi and took a shower. The view we had from our room was breath taking. My husband and I enjoyed everything about Turtle Cay. We will come back this summer. P.S. Visit Turtle Cay. I think the other people were just having "bad luck".

A great place to vacation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/29/07
I love Turtle Cay. It is not a big expansive resort but a small intimate resort. This resort has the best pool area in Virginia Beach. In fact, it's so nice that they give resort guests access cards to enter the area in order to keep nonguests from using the pool area. Teakwood furniture with cushions allow guests to relax around two large pools with waterfalls (one is wheelchair accessible), two large spas and gazebos. Music is piped into the area during pool hours, giving it a festive appeal and the landscaping gives the pool area a tropical feel. Most condos have balconies overlooking the pool area, creating a community feeling. The balconies are large enough for a table and chairs for four people and this is not cheap plastic furniture but nice cushioned furniture. There are louvered privacy screens between balconies. There are small corner units that are efficiency size but most of the units have one or more large bedrooms, a kitchen, washers and dryers, two large TVs, and a hugh bathroom. The resort offers activities every day of the week but you can also take advantage of the many activities that are available on the beach within walking distance. There are many wonderful restaurants within close walking distance and Virginia Beach is a safe and family-friendly place. Across the street from Turtle Cay there is music on the beach with dancing several nights a week. This is a fun place to go whether you are a family, single, or a couple.

Stay twice as long somewhere else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/28/07
Luckily this was an anniversary gift one night stay. The room was close to $200. Honestly I expected ALOT more for that. First problem, no breakfast?!? Not even a donut. The infamous trash truck slammed its dumpsters at exactly 7:30am too. Check out is 10am which seems a bit early to me. Now the pools were nice, though could have been warmer on a chilly night. and 2 hot tubs, although one was over 100degrees which actually burned. The kitchen would have been nice had we needed it. TVs were pretty standard 30". Kingsize bed was nice. Jacuzzi style tub was neat. Honestly I've stayed places for half this price and eaten a FULL breakfast buffet at Comfort Inns and gotten the same service/ammenities. Not to sound like a grinch but I would have felt robbed had this been my $200.
