Glanleam House And Gardens, Valentia Island

Run down house. It is sad to see how nonindigineous residents are allowed to neglect this once stately home. Consider alternatives if you are looking for Irish friendlyness.

Myself and two friends visited Glanleam House as part of a cycling trip in early September. We went for a swim in the beautiful beach in front of the guest house which is overlooked by the gardens. We were just about to enter the Glanleam gardens and had left our bikes in front of the guest-house when the owner (a German woman) drove at us very aggressively in her car screaming that the area was private property ( the beach is in fact entirely public property). We would have been quite happy to leave but she began using her car as a weapon by driving it dangerously behind our bikes to physically drive us out of the area. This behaviour was quite astonishing, completely unprovoked and doubtless criminal to use her car manacingly and very dangerously as a threatening weapon. We immediately reported the matter to the local police. This woman is a disgrace to the local tourist industry of this beautiful area and hopefully the gardai will speak to her to explain that this behaviour is utterly unacceptable.
