Great Location/Large Rooms/Great Customer Service
By ER, 10/15/09
First of all, the location is fantastic. I always stay in the lower UES, Midtown or Columbus Circle area to be close to clients but decided to try the Marmara. So glad I did! What a great safe neighborhood-everything you could possibly want is right outside your door; especially for the business woman. Also, got into MT in 10minutes from 96th station. 1bedroom suite was very spacious with a gorgeous view. And the customer service is above and beyond-such a friendly staff. I would much rather take the train or taxi in and come back to the UES than stay in Midtown. You really get a neighborhood experience with a lot more room than a typical hotel room in other areas of NYC! Rooms will be renovated to be more modern-this will be a good thing!

Great hotel in residential neighborhood
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/27/07
I stayed at the Marmara Manhattan in July for business. I needed to stay for 3 weeks and my company was stretched a bit at this price, however I really lobbied to stay there versus the Oakwood. And I am so glad I did. The apartment was really clean and had everything I needed. I don’t like spending lots of $$ on laundry, so was glad to use the washer and dryers in the building. I love both to cook my own food and go to restaurants so I loved this kitchen as well as the great location near interesting and really yummy restaurants. The Marmara Manhattan is in a really quiet, residential neighborhood and it is worth it to me for the cab fare to get to the buiness district. I just hate staying in New York in the busy and noisy downtown area. I read other reviews about the front desk staff and never found them to be rude. They just don’t really interact with you unles you ask them something but everytime I did, they were just fine. Like other said, the place is really clean. The only thing I would change is it would be nice if they had a restaurant, but again, there is a great take out in the building and lots of restaurants nearby.

Overrated hotel, terrible staff
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/27/07
After doing a long and through research on many websites including reading the reviews on tripadvisor, I booked a week at Marmara Manhattan on their website. Our problems were: 1)Hotel site shows a roof top terrace with sweeping views- It was closed and under construction for a penthouse and there was no mention of it on the website, at the hotel, during the check in. Even after I brought it up, they brushed it off. Even though this was one of the main reasons I booked this hotel. 2)Hotel site says suites have queen size beds, and nice views- Our suite had a full size bed, and view was well the small building across the street. 3)Hotel site says that the quieter upper east side. There was a construction at the hotel, outside, and outside of our window crews were there. We asked for a quieter room, and we were told they would check- 3 DAYS later which was the day before we were due to leave, they said NO ROOMS and NO DISCOUNT would be given. 4) Very rude front desk manager, she talks and fights with other guests in front of everyone, she is very unfriendly. She really should learn that customer service starts with a smile, whether one is in NY or wherever. Overall, I travel for work and leisure extensively, used to live in NY for 3 years, this is one of the worst places to stay in NYC, due to their arrogant, unaccomodating, higher than thou attitude and false advertisement. The only plus, rooms are clean.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/08/05
I stayed there in 1999 and i was totally satisfied with this hotel. When compared with the other hotels in NY value for money is excellent in this hotel and very very clean. Also even the studio type rooms are large enough for New York standards.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/09/05
We were renovating our house and had to find a place for 3 months. The reservation was very smooth, the front desk was very very helpful and polite.
