Good location
By Squid Alert, 09/22/09
The bathroom needed some work. Shower dripped and leaked everytime I used it, bathroom picture frame was broken and looked glued back together. Room was nice sized, bed very comfortable, very nice staff. Really close to the metro.

The best hotel in DC.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/14/09
I just stayed at the Sofitel for the first time and loved it. I will definately go back. Everything was great. The bed was soooo comfortable. The room was clean and well kept. The hotel has a nice Mediterranean feeling that you feel like you are on vacation even if you go for work/business. The food especially those french fries are so delicious. The staff goes above and beyond to please their guests. There is nothing bad about the Sofitel-only good.

Perfect Honeymoon at Sofitel in DC
By Barry, 06/21/09
We stayed 7 nights. Perfect. This may sound like a commercial however if you ever have the opportunity to choose Sofitel in DC it was wonderful for us. Just 1 1/2 blocks from White House. The price for value was very good and room and service very high quality. Similar to a top Marriott and even Ritz feel. Also Washington DC was a very good honeymoon destination selection for us since we live in South Florida we have access to beach and cruises regularly. Sofitel excedded our expectations!

The best Sofitel I have ever been
By Marie, 11/05/08
I went there during the IMF meeting, the hotel was full of VIPs but the service was really perfect (never seen so friendly concierges), the rooms are nice, clean, modern there is a free internet connection, free fruits... I will definitively recommend (and very well located) for breakfast, the only thing is that there is no buffet, but take the plate of salmon, this is the best choice of the menu

Great
By StephenS, 07/03/07
Great location, staff and food. Walking distance to all the places to see, friendly staff unusual for a big city (although front desk could be a little more welcoming) and we ate every day at the hotel. Be prepared to spend $$, but we had a great time and didn't regret a penny.

AWESOME! 5 star service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/12/05
We LOVE the Sofitel Lafayette Square. We have stayed there four times now and each time we go back we find something about the place we like better! Everything about this Sofitel whispers elegance, from the impeccable service to the whisper soft european down comforter in your hotel room. The service is distinctly high-class without being stuffy, the food at Cafe 15 is PHENOMENAL and is NOT overpriced for being in a top rated hotel in downtown washington. The service is top-notch! The bar (Le Bar) is positively the most delicious lounge I have ever been in, the atmosphere is so chic and all at once relaxing. The service is impeccable and the drinks are great. There is free high speed wireless internet in the bar so you can have a business meeting at one of the elegant tables. The hotel rooms are small, but full of clever storage, elegantly decorated and extremely clean, every attention to detail is paid. The white european duvets and the lovely pillows are top quality. The beds are very comfortable too. Turn down service is available and it's so nice. The conceierge is wonderful, they go out of the way to get what ever you need! The room service menu and staff are also impeccably trained and the presentation of our room service meals has been 5-star. We had a full dinner in our hotel room at 1am in the morning due to a late arrival...white table linens, silver plate covers, fresh flowers, the whole nine yards! The prices are very reasonable for what you are getting. It's a wonderful european experience in downtown Washington. We will stay there again and again.

A wonderful hotel!!! A Must See
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/05
Visited DC in June 2005. Sofitel hotels are always great. This one was wonderful. Huge bathroom, comfortable bed, in-room internet available, everything you could ever want. Staff, especially bellmen and valet were extremely kind, helpful, attentive, nice. Very convenient location to see White House and some local attractions. Long walk to Capitol and Smithsonian, use taxis or metro. Not a ton of restaurants nearby, but the hotel has good but pricey restaurant. Don't miss their amazing cheese/fruit plate and also fried wontons. Hotel parking is expensive, you really don't need a car in DC to see everything, just use taxis and it's ultimately cheaper than renting a car and paying for parking. Hotel is luxurious and peaceful and relaxing. Yes, it's expensive, but SO worth it if you're spending the day walking in the humid heat amid the stinky tourists and musty museums.
