Extended Stay Consumers Beware
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/07
Because my child is very ill and requires frequent treatment in Cleveland, an extended stay of 30 days was required (30 days or more is tax exempt). One of the members of management alerted us that if we had a room reserved for at least 30 days the rate would drop from $119 to $79. This offer was witnessed and discussed with several front desk employees during the course of our stay, but I've yet to be reimbursed the additional charges of greater than $900, and the taxes weren't credited until two months after we departure while attempting to get management to honor their offer. The hotel manager denies that his employees made this offer.
My advice....get it in writing. Even the best hotel chains aren't above....well, you get the point. At this point it's all about the principal, and, no, it's not over.
This hotel is enormous and it's employees are kind (obviously not all are trustworthy). Although beautiful, the housekeeping leaves much to be desired but I do feel confident that the housekeeping mgmt. is working on it. They DO accept pets for $100 nonrefundable deposit but the rooms allotted are a substantial distance from the front desk....not a "physically challenged" friendly distance by any means.
