Hotel Makanda by the Sea, Quepos

My new husband and I enjoyed our honeymoon at this hotel in July and we are still talking about it. What a wonderful spot we found. The property only had around 10 rooms, its own beach, a great poolside restaurant and talk about monkeys!! We woke up everyday and went to bed each night with them playing around our villa. We loved the staff, they became like family to us. Hola to Leo, Melissa, Christopher, Danilo and Maria!! Definitely take their suggestions and do the canopy tour, snorkeling, national park and the whitewater rafting. We had a blast on all of them. We can't wait to come back to Costa Rica, we could not have picked a better spot to celebrate our honeymoon!

Secluded location. Exellent staff. Amazing food. Monkeys and Sloths are all around you. The Restauant on site has the best food in the area, hands down.

We stayed four glorious nights at Makanda by the Sea and were sorry we hadn't booked more of our stay in Costa Rica there. The service is impecable, the rooms spotless and secluded, the surrounding forest complete with howler monkeys, sloths and birds was like a dream world. Breakfast was delievered every morning off the menu so there was plenty of room for variety. The little fridge and kitchen offered us an opportunity to make small lunch snacks without having to venture elsewhere for a meal. Highlights included the beautiful infinity pool overlooking the forest canopy and the pacific ocean sunsets, the 5 star outdoor dinning experience with the best sea bass we've EVER experienced, and the friendly staff who were quick to serve our every need. We spent 2 1/2 weeks in CR and stayed in five different places. Makanda was without question the BEST of the BEST. Doug and Jean McDonald

Makanda by the sea was a very relaxing and undisturbed setting. It's an exclusive retreat where you can expect to have your breakfast, lunch, and or dinner delivered right to your room if you choose. It boast magnificant views of the ocean while feeling enclose by nature. The Villas and Studios are a romantic delight. There are plenty of tours to explore, and don't forget to drop into the spa. My husband and I just enjoyed our honeymoon there, and would definitely return.

I have to say that this was one of the nicest hotels we have ever stayed at. Very personal service and the people were so friendly. We were in Villa #5 which was a dream come true! The views were incredible, and the monkeys arrived to our room several days during our visit. The best food we found in the area was right at our hotel, we ended up eating most of our meals there. The breakfast (served to our room!), had the most delicious banana coconut pancakes, we would return just for those! In fact, we have already booked for next year (hope those pancakes are there)!!
