Gate House Hotel, Niagara-on-The-Lake

Dirty room. Stains on carpet, walls dirty. Horrible, horrible restaurant service.

I took my mom to this restaurant /Hotel today for her birthday. We found a dead fly in our plate and politely complained about that. MAFIA looking very rude Manager and Owner came and told us that possibly that we have brought that fly from somewhere else and he said that it can not come from his kitchen. He yelled at us, wanted to charge us the full price. Ruined my mom and everybody's whole day, and he also accused us with planting a fly in our food for getting a discount in front of all others.

The outside looks nice and charming, and the location is great, but that's about it. We stayed for a night (did not eat at the restaurant) and the room had a bad odor, the decor was retro/ikea, the beds were really low to the ground, and the shower didn't work properly. We couldn't wait until morning so we could leave. I would definitely never go back. Too bad because this "hotel" seems to have potential. You really wonder what management/owner was thinking.

I am a wine, food and travle writer that frequently visits the Niagara-on-the-Lake area. The place that I choose to eat and also entertain my guests is at the Gatehouse Inn/Giardinnos. The decor is open, modern Italian deco in style. The kitchen and restaurant are spotless and the service excellent. My guests and I found the food excellent and the price reasonable. I have not stayed at the Inn but people who have say that the lodging was roomy, clean and well located/convenient--------and much less than other hotels. I know that special meals can be arranged and that the staff and manager go out of their way to assist guests. I have no reservations about recommending this fine establishment to anyone who wishes a pleasant stay. I did include the Gatehouse Inn/Giardinno's in my book "Rendezvous for Dinner!"

We had a great time, Restaurant was AMAZING!! Rooms were very clean and staff very helpful and professional. We will definitely go back. Location is perfect, close to shops, theatres and wineries. We enjoyed an afternoon at their outdoor patio, graet Mojitos.

THe Gatehouse Inn provides excellent accomodations and is wonderfuly located in the heart of Niagara on the Lake. The decor is modern, so if you are looknig for a "typical" Bed and breakfast type feel you won't find it here - but the rooms are clean, large and well decorated. The Italian restaurant downstairs is excellent! One of the best meals I have had on a vacation in a long time. The staff has always been very pleasant and the prices very fair. I would recommend this to anyone who wants an element of bed and breakfast but with a twist of modern decor.
