The Hammocks At Marathon, Marathon

If you are looking for relaxing place to explore the keys this is it. The resort is immaculate. The pool is beautiful. Loved the tikki bar. The bartendar and the cook were great. Good food and reasonable prices. We checked in very late at night after enjoying a long day in Key West and were immediately made to feel very welcome. We would definitely stay there again. No complaints at all.

Our studio on the 3rd floor (rm 309) was rather spacious for a studio, I was expecting it to be small. We overlooked the pool, Tiki Bar & had a great view of the water. We spent alot of time on our balcony enjoying the view & the ocean breeze. The resort is very quiet and relaxing. The pool & bar close down by 10pm on weekends, so things got quiet by the time we were ready to go to sleep. With the exception of a noisy group at the Spa the first night that awakened us at 2:30 in the morning. A quick call to the front desk took care of the situation. The staff jumped on that & the problem was resolved immediately. Needless to say, things were quiet every night the rest of the week. The staff is very friendly & are always saying hello in the hallways when you pass them. The Hammocks was a great relaxing place to stay & we would definately come back. Marathon is also nice as its centrally located in the Keys making it an easy drive to almost keys destination.

The resort is centrally located in the Florida Keys. The rooms are fairly simple in decor and amenities, compared to other good timeshare resorts, but the rooms are definitely adequate. My 2 bedroom/2 bath unit had a simple kitchen with a small (appox. 18cu ft) fridge, microwave and 3-burner stove. We had two balconies--one from the living room and one from the second bedroom. The staff was friendly. The pool was heated and great. My only small complaint would be that hallways in the resort aren't air conditioned, but that only mattered during the few minutes I spent in halls. Otherwise, everything was great. Since I traded timeshare points, I don't know what the resort would cost normally, but I was very satisfied with my experience.

This resort is excellent for the price. The staff was extremely accommodating, friendly, and we were never pressured to attend any meetings. The view of the sunset is excellent from the Tiki bar. The pool is well-kept, a bit warm but to be expected given temperatures in Marathon. There is quiet time for those who are looking for quiet, and music and Tiki bar, as well as games/events for those looking for more lively times. Location is great for walking to 7-mile grill for meals, or drive 5 minutes to stores and other restaurants. If you like Keys atmosphere but not sky-high prices, we recommend the Hammocks at Marathon.

This is a nice place and one of the cheaper places that i found in the keys. They do try to get you to attend these "meetings" to try to get you to join but when i said "no" they did not push. My advice is to stay here, just dont attend meetings and dont answer calls from desk unless your expecting something. Otherwise great location,decent rooms and good service.

When you go you MUST talk to Julie the bartender and Jodie her assistant, they are so knowledgeable and let you know ALL the great places to go! If you are going to rent a boat do it there, do NOT go to Keys Boat Rental!!!! Make sure you check out Sombrero Beach, there is a place to fish and snorkel there, no one will tell you this stuff other than Julie... If you want to do deeper fishing go to the Bridge and fish off of it, you have to get a Florida fishing Lisc. 17.50 for 3 days. THe kitchen was very small, no place to put your food so got close in there. the rooms were great we had a 2 bedroom on the 3rd floor bayview it was a great place to watch the sunset. you can rent poles from the marina by the resort, my husband caught a 4-5 lb Magrove snapper and he was nice!! Another MUST do and see is the Dolphin Research Center on Grassy Key... IT WAS SO WONDERFUL!!!! it is at Mile Marker 58. a great place to eat was the Keys Fishery 2 blocks from the resort. The location was great you are 1 hour from Key West and 1 hour to Key Largo... the location cannot be any better. Make sure you take the glassbottom boat ride at John Pennacamp, you will NOT be dissapointed!! THe resort is a bit old, I was not happy with the staff, but I think that some of them were new and just didn't know and were worried about asking someone else. Make sure you look for the Parrot fish and Lobsters at the docks and look out for the Iguanas. Ask the locals for things to do they know best, we found this out 2 days before we left. I will go back someday, but I will know better this time and do as the locals do...

Check in was smooth. When we walked into the room, initial reaction was that the room looked dated. The carpet looked and wearing out. A floor tile in the kitchen area was cracked. Now positives - One bedroom suite was much bigger than we expected. It was indeed a suite. Bathroom was nice and HUGE. Kitchen was full with all kitchenette - even toaster. It was better than we expected. Since it was a romantic trim for us, we spent a lot of time in the room. But we did spend some time out there by the Tiki Bar. It is outstanding. There are hammocks right out there at the ocean front and it was cool to hang out there in the afternoon. We did not use the pool. You can see sunset right from the bar and it was an amazing sight. Hotel is located close to downtown area and there are plenty of restaurants around. One thing we did not like - we wanted extra coffee creamers and hotel told us that they had run out of them!!! How can a hotel run out of coffee creamers? Nonetheless we would for sure go there next time if we ever go to Marathon.

We visited the Hammocks last year in June. We had a great time. Very relaxing and clean. The shower and bed were fantastic. We had an option to go to Orlando this year but chose to come back to the Hammocks instead. Wish they had a little harder drink at the tiki bar but that is my only complaint.

We stayed at the Hammocks for a week, no harrassing phone calls!! The place was very clean and kept up nicely. We had a studio room that had a good view. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting a quiet and relaxing trip. And to comment about a previous review.... tiki bar drinks were not $9.00!!!!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hammocks and can't wait to visit again! The room was great, service excellent and we can't wait for our next visit. The only downside to our room was we had a view of the parking lot! Otherwise the vacation was wonderful.
