Nice hotel but lacking
By ,
Generally nice hotel with excellent staff and good location, however they were lacking in some key areas. You were only provided with a single cup of coffee in room. A beat up refrigerator cost us $25 extra. Hot water took several minutes to warm up. Covers were dusty. Reservations were unable to combine 2 separate one night registrations into a single reservation, forcing me to spend 30 minutes at the desk to keep my same room for consecutive nights. A little effort and this could easily be a 4 star hotel, but it is definitely not one now.

Good Location/ Bad Value
By ,
The hotel views of the river are great. However, the location is the best thing about this hotel. The staff has very limited knowledge of local events. Parking is $15 per day. You have to request a microwave to be sent to your room and there is a $25 charge. If you're not checked out at exactly 12 noon there is an additional $179 charge. The pool is too small for such a large hotel. There is a security guard who prowls the fitness area to make sure everyone is wearing proper footwear. There are 8 elevators but you will spend up to 5 minutes waiting for them if the hotel is full. Check in lines are often very long. In short, If you want value for your money, choose another hotel.

locked out!!
By ,
Okay, let me start off by saying when my Fiance and I checked in we were actually impressed with the cleanliness and hospitality here at the Hyatt. We ended up changing our minds at about 2:30am. My Fiance and I went out to have dinner and drinks, when we got back to the room I went to sleep. My fiance went out to see if he could get a bite to eat and managed to leave his wallet and key in the room. I am a very deep sleeper so I didnt answer the door or the phones. My Fiance went down and asked them if they could let him in and they would not. He said that he would even be willing to give them all of his information and have a secuirty officer escort him to our room.(Beings that he is a POLICE OFFICER himself) THEY WOULD NOT! He ended up sitting in the hotel Lobby until 6:30am when someone FINALLY said they would go get his wallet. The customer service skills these employees have are an outrage! They need more training! VERY RUDE AND NOT HELPFUL. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone! On that note I used Valet and when I checked out they were not able to find me on their list(It was my fault that I lost my ticket but if I give you my identification then you should be able to let me have my car). Their words were "MAM, CALM DOWN WE HAVE YOUR CAR WE JUST DONT KNOW WHERE IT IS!" Ok so now you all tell me if this is a place you would want your family or friends to stay? Not to mention it was Valentines Day and I couldnt even be with my loved one because they wouldnt let him back in the room. I will never stay here again the prices are outragous and the staff sucks!!

Way too pricey!
By ,
I booked a honeymoon suite with the amoure package. I was very disappointed. They did nothing special to the room. The advertisement on their website was very deceiving. I could've done a lot better for a suite that was priced at almost $350. Their continental breakfast wasn't even a real breakfast. The only thing lovely was the view.

Good but not great
By ,
This hotel has exceptional rooms and spectacular views. I was on the St. Johns River and watched the dolphins play in the river almost every day. The food was decent, but not something I can rave about. There was not enought of a selection for me. There were a few places nearby at which to eat and the location was convenient for many activities. However, the staff needs to be trained in customer service. It took more than 30 minutes to pick up a key card to a room my roommate had already checked into. When I left, the parking was to be charged to the room. It took the clerk nearly 45 minutes and three discussions with her supervisor before the situation was resolved. I asked for the supervisor to come out several times to clear up the confusion and she would not according to the desk clerk who was clearly in over her head. The matter was resolved within a couple of minutes once the supervisor arrived, but there were still mistakes made. I left a day early and after several reassurances and my roommate asking for the parking charge to go to the room and he would cover it, it was still charged to my credit card. Any time I had questions of the staff, they seemed surprised by my questions (where to eat, how to call a cab) and were unprepared to answer the questions. The staff is obviously young people new to the country or area who are needing quick employment. They do not receive adequate training and therefore, my stay was marred by this ineptness. I would recommend this lovely hotel with reservations about the staff.

Too Pricey
By ,
Were forced to book at this hotel because my sister won a scholarship for Breast Cancer for Young Women Conference. We were told that the rooms were blocked for the conf. and would get a special rate. However, the "special" rate was only on Thursday and we were forced to pay the full price for the remaining 2 nights. Why? We were never given an answer. The room was ok but there were stains on the fancy pillows on the beds, the countertop in the bathroom had a large damaged spot and there wasn't enough creamer and sugar for the coffee maker. A beer was $7 minimum and the food for the conference was downright horrible. Imagine, they offered raw oysters to chemo patients! For the next conference, we will stay elsewhere since this hotel was not worth the $180 a night. I will say one good thing though...the location was stunning and easy to get to shopping and dining.

Good location for football game
By ,
Close to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. Quick cab ride or can walk. Hotel was nice. Food was average. Hotel too quiet. Only real disappointment was that there was nothing to see in the area except Jacksonville Landing, which wasn't anything special.
