Good but not great
This hotel has exceptional rooms and spectacular views. I was on the St. Johns River and watched the dolphins play in the river almost every day. The food was decent, but not something I can rave about. There was not enought of a selection for me. There were a few places nearby at which to eat and the location was convenient for many activities.
However, the staff needs to be trained in customer service. It took more than 30 minutes to pick up a key card to a room my roommate had already checked into. When I left, the parking was to be charged to the room. It took the clerk nearly 45 minutes and three discussions with her supervisor before the situation was resolved. I asked for the supervisor to come out several times to clear up the confusion and she would not according to the desk clerk who was clearly in over her head. The matter was resolved within a couple of minutes once the supervisor arrived, but there were still mistakes made.
I left a day early and after several reassurances and my roommate asking for the parking charge to go to the room and he would cover it, it was still charged to my credit card. Any time I had questions of the staff, they seemed surprised by my questions (where to eat, how to call a cab) and were unprepared to answer the questions.
The staff is obviously young people new to the country or area who are needing quick employment. They do not receive adequate training and therefore, my stay was marred by this ineptness.
I would recommend this lovely hotel with reservations about the staff.
