5 reviews for Sleep Inn Ft Jackson, Columbia
I will ALWAYS go back here!
By Sleepy, 10/10/09
I read these reviews and was very nervous because when I read them all of the other hotels in the area were booked. I came in expecting a heck hole and instead was pleasantly surprised. Now I am not going to say I didn't have problems, I was moved once because of the AC not working correctly, and the remote in my room needed new batteries but other than that my room was pleasant I saw no bugs or roaches as some of the other reviews have stated and I stayed over a week. The staff was amazing the groundsmen, Bernard was very polite and helpful, he was able to fix any problems I had with the room with in the same day. Michael the manager, was super helpful, he was very respectful and worked tirelessly to keep me satisfied. and the front desk staff had its ups and downs two of the girls were amazing, Erika and Jackie were helpful, respectful, polite and wonders with their jobs, When I checked in Jackie spoke with me and made me feel at home instantly and Erika was a doll when I had problems and needed to be moved. as for the other front desk girls, the morning shift girl who's name escapes me was rude and could care less, but I felt that those two more than made up for her. I would recommend that you stay here and give these girls a chance to make you smile. because they will and it will make your stay so much more enjoyable.!

Stay away!!
By patty, 07/24/09
We stayed at this hotel for our sons graduation from Ft Jackson. Very dirty, Swimming pool was filthy, abt 98 degrease outside and no one could go swimming. We noticed a bottle cap, a AA battery, and broken plastic pieces on the bottom of the pool, as well as normal debris, ie; leaves, scum, etc.Took them three days to empty trash can that was right outside the main entry door, Trash overflowing onto the ground. Cigarette butts everywhere. Wheel barrel full of weeds that was there when we arrived on Weds 7-15-09, and still there when we left on Sat. 7-18-09. The Hallways where in need of vacuuming, with several noticable items left laying in the hallways throughout our stay. The first day we were there, a broken down Honda was being worked on in the parking lot, right next to the pool, (which was unusable anyway), by a couple of questionable characters drinking beer. NICE! The bed was very comfortable, We had rented 2 rooms, for a period of 3 days, at a cost of about $90.00 a nite, per room, you do the math. The web site had advertised FLAT SCREEN T.V.'s in every room, only 1 of our rooms had the flat screen, (it was niice), the other room had a standard 19 in. t.v. There were other somewhat serious safety hazards in and around the hotel, that would prevent me from advising young children visit, but I regress. In whole, the hotel was not even close to what was represented on the web site. The staff was very friendly, but did far too much sitting around when simple tasks could have been completed to make a more pleasant atmosphere. Rating on a 1 to 10 basis, we give this dump a strong 3.

THE WORST
By UNHAPPY CUSTOMER, 02/28/09
I REALLY DISLIKE THIS HOTEL DUE TO ITS MANY PROBLEMS. I HAD TO CHANGE ROOMS TWICE BECAUSE THE NONSMOKING ROOMS SMELLING LIKE SMOKE ON THE 3RD FLOOR, BLOODY COMFORTER, BROKEN TISSUE HOLDER, PHONE JACK WAS DETACHED AND BROKEN FROM PHONE. ALSO THE ELEVATOR WAS DIRTY AND NO MAIDS AVAILABLE AFTER 12PM IF YOU NEED SERVICE. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE. NEEDS TO UPGRADE

stay somewhere else!
By Marie, 10/07/08
We booked our stay through the base, and they recommended this hotel, but I called and requested they NOT recommend it to anyone else. Although the hotel had newer fixtures, carpet and the like, this hotel is far from being "recommendable". The TV cable reception is fuzzy, the Internet is slow and the shower door was poorly installed - as it leaked every time you used it. It turned cold but when we turned on the heater, the smoke alarm went off, so we quickly turned it back off. My brother stayed in another room, and his room was even worse. In addition to the TV being fuzzy, the shower door would not close, he phone didn't work and with no alarm clock he couldn't even get a wake-up call. In addition, you can hear the foot falls of the people in the room above you, so good luck sleeping. The breakfast was okay, but the syrup for the make-your-own waffle was extremely watered down. My recommendation - stay somewhere else. There are many other nearby hotels, and this one is not worth the money.

Fort Jackson Visit
By That Girl, 04/27/07
I flew from Syracuse NY to Columbia to visit my boyfriend while he was at school for recruiting on Ft. Jackson. I booked the hotel through Yahoo Travel based on reviews, even though it wasn't the closest to the airport. I'll let you know now that if you are taking a cab from the Columbia Airport, it's about $30.00 to get here but I found it to be worth the price to be close to the base. :::POSITIVES::: My boyfriend noted that this hotel room was far superior (in cleanliness, space, and staff) to the room that his parents had booked a week earlier with the Radisson, and they paid quite a bit more than me, so I was impressed with that. The room was very nice and clean, no critters or insects to worry about. It was nice to have a fridge and a microwave as well as a pretty good continental breakfast. Lots of cable channels to choose from including all the popular cable channels as well as HBO. The wireless internet was a little stubborn at first for about 10 minutes, but then I was able to connect with no issue on a solid connection with good speed. The oversized shower was excellent! Great pressure, shower head had 3 settings, no problem with hot water, and I tend to like my showers very hot, so I was impressed. The staff at the hotel was wonderful, housekeeping performed their duties well and the employees at the front desk were helpful, wonderful to chat with, and had a great hospitable demeanor. The hotel surprised us with their security procedures and called our room to verify that we had called for a pizza delivery to ensure our safety before letting the delivery man come up to our room. The downstairs dining area for breakfast was quaint. It was very clean and organized and appeared to be tended to with care. The air conditioning in the room worked so good that I had to turn it down in the night because the high setting made it a little too cold. The heat also worked well. The room had adequate space available and looked very nice. The price was a little higher than some of the other hotels in the area that I looked at, but I found it to be 100% worth what I paid based on both the hotel room and staff and the 3-5 minute proximity to Fort Jackson. :::NEGETIVES::: I don't really have much to put in here at all. The pool was a 3 foot deep pool and fairly small, but it was well maintained and the patio area was nice. I could see the pool being a great asset if I were to come back with our children, as it would be perfect for them. It was too small and shallow for an adult to swim in, but it was nice to have it there to sit in...I didn't get the chance to check out the exercize room, but it seemed clean and a fairly decent size with some equipment.
