THE GROUNDS WERE BEAUTIFUL, SO WERE THE BEACHES,BUT THAT WAS IT, HORRIBLE FOOD, HORRIBLE SERVICE , RUDE EMPLOYEES, THEY DID NOT LIKE AMERICANS ONLY EUROPEANS THEY SEEM TO CATER TO THEM MORE.THE ROOMS ARE NOT WHAT THEY SHOW ON LINE,AND DONT GET A ROOM ON GROUND FLOOR UNLESS YOU LIKE CREEPY CRAWLERS. CHECK IN TOOK 3 HOURS, AND NOT EVERYTHING IS INCLUDED AS THEY TELL YOU WHEN YOU BOOK THE TRIP. I PLEA WITH YOU TAKE MY REVIEW SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will never go back!!!

I will start off by saying that the resort looks pretty nice but the service was horrible! First of all, we travelled in a group of 50 people for a wedding. The hotel did not have us in the same section, we were all scattered around. Second, we were not aware of the ROYAL CLUB TREATMENT. If you are in that part, you really need to run out of there! Asking for towels was like asking for gold. The food was disgusting. The only decent things were the pizza, tacos, and the mexican restaurant. When we would call the front desk, they would tell you to hold, then hang up on you. Another thing, the bar would stop serving drinks around 12:00 am, so if you wanted to party, you would have to go to the club next door and pay for your drinks. The club next door was filled with nasty things that I don't even want to mention. Our friends that stayed at the ROYAL CLUB SECTION were much happier than we were. I will say I had a blast with all my friends together , but I will never go back to this resort again.

Very bad hotel

Everything was bad, really noisy during all day and night long !! Catamaran non usable, one day not enought wind, the second day two much !!by the time all the hotels around were using their catamaran. Service bad, we wait 3 hours to get our luggages !!! with 10 diffferent calls and finally we went to pick them up !!! The cocktail are bad, they don' t have ice tea !!! I won't recomment it at all

were do you start! firstly the rooms are so dated and damp, the maid service consists of your bed getting made they leave all your rubbish until you checkout, the staff at the lobby are rude, the security are just after money, tips are the main thing in this hotel eveyone wants your money! food was awfull, ate in pizza hut most nights outside the hotel, my friend was in hospital for 4 days very ill and was just able to fly home,thats after 1 meal in hotel! alltogether a horrid hotel stay away please! remember .you were warned!

bad customer service

We've just spend one week in this resort on Dec 2005 and I have a terrible experience with the hotel management. They have the worse customer service ever. Nobody ever listen to you if you have problem with the room or any services. Worse of all, they have theif in the hotel where my jacket have been taken and a few other small items that people usually don't care to report. But even when I've reported my lost jacket neither the hotel management or the air transat representitive cared. As I talk to other people, I've gathered that most of us had problem with the hotel customer service. I do not recommened this hotel to anyone at all. Be careful if you ended up there because you may lose your belonging and there is noone to listen to you.

Very dissapointed with the level of service

We decided to go to Occidental Grant through Air Canada Vacations this year. Our flight from Vancover to Punta Cana was great. We thought we were in for a great week. We landed in Punta Cana after 10 hours of flying through Toronto and the immigration/airport services was great. Air Canada had arranged a bus for us to get to the hotel. After we arrived at the hotel it was almost an hour before we could check in. Not one person at the front desk was in a hurry to check in the 12 families who came in at 9.45pm. After complaining and asking to have another desk cleark to open we finally got checked in and went to our room. Room we got was in the building 12 (ground floor) at best it was like a motel room in Canada. After one shower there was water coming in to the bedroom. (only good thing was the bed) towels had all kinds of stains and felt dirty and unclean. Next day after speaking with Air Canada Representative, we decided to pay another $630.00 and go to their so call "Royal Club" area. Well now we went from a motel room to a little bit better room but everything else was the same. Cheap wine/ Recycled food/ Power outage and no generator etc etc etc. Anyway great lesson learned. Never again at Occidental Grand in Punta Cana.

a nightmare

We went with a very open mind knowing not to expect what we have in Canada but! Good Facility is nice, entertainment was great,beach was beautiful. Bad Rooms are run down, food is very bad and limited. at least one in every 10 people at the resort got very sick. we were a party of 8 and we all got sick. way to much walking to get from one place to the other.. the carts were never available. No power in the entire resort for 1 full day and everyday for at least 5 hours, no access to toilets durring power outage. Bring lots of Pepto you will need it.

Flight Attendants Review

Being a Flight Attendant for a Vacation Airline I was very disappointed in this resort. I stayed there in April of 2006. Our first night we had no water or air conditioning in our room. There is no service from the staff like some of the other resorts I have stayed at. Punta Cana is a beautiful destination. Some advice, just be very picky about your resort and pick one of the top rated ones.

NIGHTMARE VACATION

This vacation was a nightmare! At any given time the electricity would go out for hours at a time. There was no water in our rooms for days and when we finally got water there was no hot water. They gave us standard rooms when we paid for upgraded rooms. There were never towels in the room or on the beach. There was BLACK MOLD growing in the bathroom!!! You could not get dinner reservations in any of the restaurants which forced you to eat at the buffet which was horrible. Nobody at the resort cared about our complaints. We tried to get our money back, but they blew us off! DO NOT GO HERE!
