Disappointing Hotel in Las Vegas
The Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas sounds great on paper; however, I was very disappointed with my stay there this past weekend. Since it was a holiday weekend, I had paid a premium, and I expected to receive a room comparable with the price. The hotel was crowded upon arrival, and we had to wait 10 minutes to checkin. They did not have my preference of a non-smoking room/king bed in the system nor did they have any of my personal information prepopulated, and I had to wait while they entered everything into the computer. The room we were given was on the 29th floor and was small, dark, and depressing. The carpet was stained in various places, the amenities booklet was missing, the safe was left locked by the previous people, the bathtub was dirty with hair in the tub, lipstick was smeared on the lightswitch in the bathroom and a huge power outlet with multiple plugs/cables was exposed along with carpeting that was lifting on the edges. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and the bedding was very average. The service was equally disappointing - it took over an hour to receive an amenities booklet, and we had to wait for them to unlock the safe. We requested a room change, and waited on the phone on hold a total of 2 hours while this process was underway. Every time we called the front desk, we had to wait on hold an average of 20 minutes. Terrible customer service! They finally gave us a room change, we waited for them over an hour to show up with the new keys. They never showed up and we had to go down to the front desk, but they had no room change on record, and we had to wait another hour. Finally, they assigned us a different room, but we had wasted a total of 3 hours. The new room was slightly larger but was equally unappealing with a sub-par view. The elevators in the hotel were very slow and broke down several times during the weekend causing a huge jam in the hallways. Finally, our room keys stopped working halfway through our stay, and we had to go to the Front desk again for new ones. They never apologized for all of the inconveniences - a simple, "I'm sorry" would have made a huge difference. Due to all of these unfortunate occurrences, I do not recommend the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas nor would I ever stay there again. Try the Wynn for a more elegant and service-oriented stay in Las Vegas.
