Lock your luggage in your room
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/5/11
First of all this hotel has some terrible smells in the hallways on several occasions. I don't know if it was cleaning products the service staff use, or poor ventilation. My wife and I satyed there 3 nights in October. The room was nice and spacious. However it seems that there is a theft problem either with the housekeeping staff or some other individuals. One afternnon we returned to our room to find our closed bags opened and moved out of the closets. We had been on a Macy's shopping spree through a major sponser of a sweepstakes for a car. A brand new $44.00 shirt was taken out of our room. The staff did not want to hear about it and send us to security. We filed a report and was told the hotel was not responsible. They intially offered to reimburse us through the Risk management carrier. We returned notarized documents to them which they provided and after stating we would be reimbursed ultimately refused to pay. The staff is less than professional. The hotel smells terrible and in addition since this hotel is so far from the strip there is no resonablly priced dining. Don't leave anything of value in your room since the house keeping staff seem tho think they have a right to steal and go through your bags. We were glad to check-out. This was our first impression of Las Vegas which seems to have a very seedy element.

Service should be better for the price
By ElaineE, 11/13/11
We stayed for my husband's conference at this hotel. We had a reserved king bed room, but when we checked in, none were left. We were give a room with 2 queen beds that felt more like full size ones since we have a queen at home and these felt smaller. Mini bar fridge was locked so no big deal but then I get a notice 2 days later no to leave personal items in fridge. Turns out they never checked it before we checked in so the previous people's things were left in there. Food is very expensive but then again Vegas has really gone up in 5 years. Casino is a strong smoke smell. You have to go through the casino to get anywhere. Sits on the end of the strip so everything is a walk once you get off the tram that runs to Excalibur. Loved the bathroom. Almost as big as a small bedroom. They have notes asking us to hang towels if you want to reuse, I did and still got new towels everyday. Did have to wait to check in but checkout was quick, had to get pringles removed that were $5 for a tiny can that once again wasn't there before we checked in but after they checked the bar it was there. Loved the view from the 28th floor and sometimes elevators took a few minutes but they had 8 running so it was never a long wait. Ears popped quite a bit on the elevators. Oh, loved how we were informed that we would never get into anything in Vegas if we didn't dress up. We don't like to dress up so the places we had to held no interest for us.

Good but several dissapointments
By Gabriel D, 8/7/11
You here a lot of rave over the pools at at the Mandalay Bay. So like others that's why we went, but here is what you get. The pool is nice, however, you can't actually find anywhere to put your itms or sit down. We walked around for 30 minutes in circles trying to find a chair. There is multiple sections that you can rent a chair. Most of those areas are empty because the price to rent a chair is, get this..$100 each. For my brother and I that would equal the price of a room for the night at the hotel. That's crazy. We did eventually find one. and did have fun in the wave pool. The rooms are nice but be warned do not touch the mini bar. The items do not have prices and one bag of nuts the size similar to the free one you get on a plane is $12.00. Very dishonest in part of the hotel, especially after you pay about $20.00 in "resort fees" which include Vale and other services, however, the vale in my experience got full and I had to self park. Fun experience but I can't loose sight of being robbed in some areas, I know I will be robbed in the casino while I entertain myself gambling, but I know those risks, not from the hotel itself. The elevator area is really crowded at times and you have about a 30 person line trying to fight each other to get in an elevator, so i guess I'm the only one fighting over nuts.

Just ok....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/11
Spent a week at his hotel. Booked the trip thru Southwest. Bathroom was nice. Bedroom and living room was rough. Carpets stained, furniture dated. Was expecting more of a view than the highway. No where near enough free chairs at the pool, but plenty of chairs to rent for $50/day. Add a umbrella for $75/day....come on!!!! Valet does a great job!!

VERY PLEASED
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/11/11
Has reservation for strip view and a deluxe room at Mandalay Bay. When we arrived, we were upgraded to TheHotel suites. Very nice 2 room suite at no extra cost to us. We had our anniversary dinner at the top of TheHotel at the Mix and it was expensive but VERY good. I would recommend it for special occasions. Yes, drinks are expensive but they are every where in vegas. If you want to stay at statosphere and go to top for free, then you get what you pay for in the room also. (OLD, STALE SMELL,AND END OF STRIP) so you decide if you want to pay alittle more and have a great trip or go cheap and get what you play for. I dont believe some reviews on here about TheHotel. It is beautiful, clean and we had no problems what so ever.

Don't do it!
By Unhappy, 6/4/11
Had my PDA stolen from a meeting room (by an employee). After taking a report and alledgedly reviewing activity on camera, they said they found nothing suspicious and would not reimburse me for the PDA. The problem is, we had hired security outside of each meeting room that was to monitor entrance and exit of any persons. The only people entering and exiting were two cleaning employees of the hotel during the lunch break when the phone was stolen. Also, I had to contact the hotel to determine resolution twice as the "risk management" department did not return two calls. Additionally - if you are on a lower floor, plan on long waits for an elevator down (up to 20 minutes). Food, with a couple exceptions, is very marginal.

Be prepared to spend!
By Kathryn, 5/9/11
We went to Vegas with friends and the purpose of the trip was to be married. When we checked into the hotel we had reserved two King nonsmoking rooms and ended up with two double beds and one King. The "bar" in the room had two bottles in it and nothing else. No in room coffee and the nuts were $15 for about 1 cup. The room we stayed in was the king and had a beautiful view of the strip. I enjoyed the soaking tub and the tv in the bathroom. The double had a view of the airport. We ordered 4 small frozen drinks on the beach and they were $13 a piece. The beach area was nice, if you were there early enough to have a chair. Don't bother with a tube for the lazy river it's $28. While in the casino you are lucky to get one drink, we were on the floor for two hours and were offered a drink twice, even told by one waitress to find the server in our area that she could not wait on us. The shark reef was to expensive for what they offered. The hotel charges a resort fee that you don't have the option to opt out of. It seemed like their hands were in your pocket the entire trip.

Worst Customer Service and possibly BED BUGS
By Monica, 4/9/11
Their customer service was the worst I have ever encountered, the room was not clean and am waiting to see if the bites we have on us are from bed bugs.

what a joke!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/25/11
i would not recommend this place to my worst enemy!! reserved a strip view room 20th floor or above a month in advanced and paid in full and we recieved a room on the 10th floor with a view of the airport. room was not clean there were M&M's on the floor the safe was locked and if we wanted to use it we would have to wait they would send someone up in an hour or so! forget that!! not one server EVER asked me if i needed anything both nights we gambled there but the gentleman next to me was asked...hhmmm?? paid 117. for first night second night they charged me over 400 for a room!! all the soda machines were completly empty on our floor, no coffee pots, no mini fridge, the room was cold took half the night to warm it up even a little bit. I did complain about all of this at time of trip but never once did anyone deal with any of the situations, staff was very rude. we asked about the aquarium and they said yes you can see it BUT it will cost you 16.00 per person...WHAT?? That is not included if you are staying at the hotel? what a rip-off. we spent the 16.00 and went and done something else. i know alot of hotels like the Stratosphere lets you go to the top to view for FREE if you are staying there. Mandalay Bay is just taking every nickle and dime they can get from you. What kind of place has a lazy river that if you want to use a tube YOU have to pay for it i heard like 25.00? The tubes should be free again for paying hotel guests! do not order a burger at the red, white and blue unless you want to pay 18.00 for a cheeseburger!! Place is nice mostly the entry way area but once you get past that it is nothing spectacular. Parking lot was a total mess, elevators in the garage were also disgusting. This resort fee for phone calls, internet, free paper etc. is a rip-off also you should not have to pay that if you do not even use the stuff which we NEVER DID! checking out was another story, waited 45 minutes inline while there was only 3-4 people behind the desk checking in/out. once we got to the desk we were not greeted or asked how anything was we were only told that we owed them an additional $44.00 for taxes and fees that were not done at check-in??Excuse me..as far as i know your computer does all the adding and totals for you so how is that my fault?? The $44.00 should come out of the ladies pocket that made my reservation...not mine!! This was our first trip ever and we thought we had to stay at a top of the line hotel..what a mistake!! We stayed at Ramada Inn our last night there(we were not giving that hotel another dime!!!)and in all honesty it was a much better atmosphere...we recieved a two room suite, two televisions, a nice bathroom, free breakfast, and a jacuzzi for 89.00 and the room was even clean no M&M's on the floor!!. It may have not been 30+ stories high or have a casino but for that price and only showering and sleeping why would you ever pay 400.00 for a single room. First trip ever like I said and now we know better save your money to gamble shop and enjoy yourself instead of paying 400.00 plus resort fees for a room that needs alot of work!! We are planning a trip back to vegas real soon and I can tell you we will not be giving them the satisfaction of taking all our money treating us like we dont exist and being overcharged for things we NEVER used. will never recommend this place or stay there again. horrible staff rude and seeming like they dont care how they do their jobs. we will be back but definatley not here!

Love it.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/5/10
Stayed here during my first trip to Vegas, and it was fantastic. The minute I walked into the lobby I was taken aback at how elegant it was. It wasn't overly-crowded except for the lines at the check-in desk, and they were very friendly, and asked with a smile if we would like a view of the pool - and we got just that, an awesome view of all the pools and palm trees. The room was very spacious and the bathrooms clean (and with a flat-screen tv!). There was no coffee maker which really ticked off some of my family, but you could just take the elevator downstairs, go thru the casino and get something at the Starbucks. I was 15 at the time of the trip and I still had a blast. The pools were all great, but as we quickly learned got very crowded very fast. There were quite a few kids there, specifically in the wave pool and lazy river, but I was fine with it. We ordered virgin pina coladas while at the pool and the waitress was very friendly and got our drinks out pretty quickly. The food in the hotel is mostly great. Ate somewhere different each night and loved pretty much everything, it's expensive though. There is also a lot of shops in a mall-like area connecting MB and Luxor that has good food (that's where the Starbucks is). I don't see why people complain that it's at the end of the strip and takes too long to get to anywhere else, because the walking provides great exercise and you could also take a tram to Luxor or Excalibur. It's not too far at all. The only problem I really have was housekeeping; at times they did not replenish the towels in the bathroom and sometimes things were left in the halls. Overall though, I love this hotel and have been back many times since that first trip - it's even better now.
