4 reviews for Double Eagle Resort and Spa, June Lake
Good.....but costly
By Daniel, 07/15/06
Not recommended for the budget traveller. Prices are steep for what you get but I consider this one of the best getaways in the eastern sierras. We've been going there at least once a year for the past 5 years. The prices have continued to climb but the quality of the accomodations has not improved. The staff turns over quickly (which can be expected in a small town of 625 people) so we are always dissapointed with the level of service that we end up getting. A couple of exceptions are Chris at the front desk in the spa and Robert - the fly guide.

Fly Fishing paradise
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/25/06
Staff was great, cabins are out of this world, ammenities too numerous too mention, views are incredible. If you ever thought of learning to fly fish, this is the place. Robert, their fly casting instructor and guide, grew up in the area and can teach anybody the skills needed to enjoy fly fishing. I loved my experience so much, I brought back my wife and son to learn. Now we all enjoy fly fishing together. Robert is a very thorough and patient instructor, making sure that we all learned the proper technique and all the necessary information. He kept us fishing almost 5 hours on our guided trip although we paid for only 3 hours. He is surely more interested in bringing clients to a competant level of experience than just getting paid. He allowed all 3 of us to use some of his custom fly rods and even an antique bamboo rod from 1927 that belonged to his grandfather. The variety of waters and amazingly beautiful scenery are only rivaled by the excitement of catching the prettiest fish I've seen. Everone at the Double Eagle should be commended for their exceptional service and wonderfully helpful attitudes. The Double Eagle Resort can not be beat!!! Make sure you take advantage of all their ammenities, you will have a very enjoyable vacation.

This place is amazing, wonderfull facilities all year around, from fishing, biking, hicking, to ski/snowboarding, snowshoing and ice skating. The staff is great and friendly, the Spa is amazing! You have to try their Spa Treatments they are the best. I would not stay anywhere else.

Great Place to Chill Out
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/01/04
Two bedroom cabins with fully equipped kitchens and decks with patio furniture and BBQ. Excellent day spa, fitness center, and indoor pool on premises, as well as a restaurant. If you are coming from the north on 395, take the second turn you see for the June Lake loop. You will get a much better impression of the area. One side of the loop is kind of sparse and the other side is completely different with great views of June Lake, wooded areas, and the town. We had a very relaxed time here. There was a huge rock formation outside our cabin that you could climb up and then enjoy the solitude and views of Carson Peak. Also had a stone labyrinth down a little forest path that you could walk through. Great spa therapists. Gave it 4 stars because the cabins aren't actually near the lake (you have to drive there) and it is a little misleading from looking at the brochures and web site, but overall, we had a really nice time there. Bodie, Mono Lake, Ancient Bristlecone Pines nearby.
