Description

The Grandover Resort and Conference Center is located on 1,500 acres of oak, pine and dogwood covered hills, just 10 minutes south of Greensboro.Meeting planners use the technologically-equipped conference center, with various flexible convention spaces, and a series of terraces and gardens for social receptions. The on-site Grandovers spa and fitness center offer convenient escapes from the business sphere. Also part of the Spa is the indoor/outdoor swimming pool, permitting swimmers to pass from the outdoors in, or from indoors out. In fact, the distinction between the inside and outside scarcely exists since the indoor pool area has been transformed into a natural, tropical paradise featuring boulders, abundant foliage, and a cascading waterfall under which people can swim. This indoor swimming area offers views of the authentic al fresco landscape outside through a large window. Meanwhile, the range of restaurants and bars include the fireplace-lit Colony Lounge and Di Valletta, specializing in Italian cuisine with golf course views. Additional recreation includes two top-rated PGA golf courses, four-court tennis complex, and two racquetball courts. The hotel has 11 floors, 247 guest rooms, 45 suites, and 29 meeting rooms. The rooms have coffeemakers, movies, irons and ironing boards, and refrigerators.

Grandover does not value you as a person
By DadNC, 5/13/12
On Mother's Day, a gentleman rudely insulted my 8 year old daughter for picking up plates at the Mother's Day buffet, then took them from her and slammed them down. When my wife told him that was no way to speak to her a child, her told her that we must not be from here because we don't know who he is. As if "being someone" gives him an entitlement to be a jerk. We called the manager while this man chatted with the staff and continued to laugh and eat and smile at his table. The manager eventually came and told me that he would not even speak to the man about his behavior, let alone ask him to come apologize to my wife and daughter for making them both cry. As he explained to me, this man was somehow "special" to Grandover. Well, if you're like most of us, and you're not "special", just know that Grandover does not want or respect you or your business. We decided to leave and hit a local commoners' restaurant -- the food was better and our family was happier. Good riddance to Grandover.

BED BUGS and DISRESPECTFUL MGT.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/20/11
Great location relative to Furnitureland South. Clean rooms exept***. Food good. ***I woke up with two bed bug bites and reported it to management. He claimed that after inspection, there was no bugs and therefore completely ignored my complaint. His last sentence actually wished that I would come back for my next visit. Huh?? NOT!

Stress-free after a stressful vacation
By Doug, 7/19/10
We stayed here to recuperate from a stressful vacation. We booked on a very slow weekend, so the hotel was very quiet and uncrowded, which was what we needed. We didn't have to wait for a table because we were one of maybe 5 tables occupied in the Di Valetta restaurant, which, by the way, was outstanding! We also loved the little deli tucked away in the back of the building where we had breakfast. Our room was very comfortable and quiet, and had a fridge, coffee maker, and small sink in the main room. We had a beautiful view of the course (I specifically requested a higher floor) and the wooded area beyond, making it feel like a more remote location away from it all. The spa was great - we loved our couples massage so much that we went back for another one the next day! - and they let you linger on the couches as long as you like. We had a nice lunch in the spa area. The indoor pool was nice, but the hot tub was small and the current was so strong I could barely sit in place. The locker rooms were attractive and clean, but on a busier weekend they'd probably run out of lockers. My one complaint is that they tried to charge me for a third night that I had canceled online a week ahead of time (we changed from 3 nights to 2), and I had to call to clear it up. The clerk made it sound like it was my problem until I told him I had the e-mailed confirmation right in front of me on my laptop, and he changed his tune fast, which was a little suspicious, so keep an eye on your bill if you stay here. Despite that little hitch, I would still definitely return.

GOT TO STAY HERE!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/09
Recommend the Jr. suite. This was a great resort to stay in. Makes you not want to leave. The beds are very comfortable. The food is unreasonably pricey (that's the only complaint). The service is excellent from the driveway throughout. Fireplace is romantically warm. Customer service excellent. Pleasant attendants at the curbside to assist with luggage. Rooms are exceptionally clean and smell good. Quiet sleeping, heating and air conditioning is superbly quiet. Wonderful amenities in the room. Good location to other attractions, right off the highway.

luxurious surroundings and comfort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/26/09
I read many negative reviews and almost did not reserve this hotel. I must write and state that the hotel is absolutely breathtaking. Both inside and out. The service was of the highest quality. From the moment we drove up and the doors were open for us, to the quick check in, to the bags being delivered to the room, to the excellent service in the restaurant, to an enjoyable evening sipping cordials by the magnificant fireplace in the lobby, all was first class. You must treat yourself to this fine hotel. Also treat yourself to a dinner in downtown Greensboro at Table 16. It is an absolute must. 5 star dining at its best.

Overrated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/17/08
My wife and I visited Grandover for an anniversary celebration. We paid for a spa and golf package that included 18 holes of golf and a 60-minute spa service. The golf course was nice and the spa service, according to my wife, was OK. With our package, we were given two full free breakfasts for the following morning at their restaurant. Our server, who we could barely understand, was unsure about what menu items would be coverered with the free breakfast passes. She came back after discussion with the kitchen manager/chef and told which items were available. We made our selection and enjoyed a nice meal. Weeks later, we noticed our credit card was charged for the breakfast. We also discovered our total amount for the package on our credit card statement was higher than amount on our receipt at checkout. I called and was bounced around throughout the resort until I was connected to someone in accounting. Both charges were corrected. This place is impressive on the surface but beware, service is slack. Also, 85 cents for a local call? Please...

What and experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/26/07
This place was an absolute disaster. The food was horrible, the dinnerware was dirty, and there was broken glass in my glass. The rooms are definitely not what I expected at all. I thought they would be more comfortable for the price, but absolutely not. I'm sorry but I can not recommend this place to anyone.

Excellent Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/4/07
We stayed at Grandover last weekend. Had been there once before a vowed to return. After years of being away, we found the hotel still just as luxurious as the first stay. The atomosphere invites relaxation. It was peacefuland staff were friendly and helpful. We'll definitely return. Tisdales from Maryland

Wonderful Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/29/07
You will not be disappointed in this hotel. The golf courses are fabulous and the hotel is beautiful. I went on a business trip and was impressed with the grounds and decor. I played two days of golf and it was a treat. I highly recommend the Grandover.

lOVE THE PLACE HATE THE PRICE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/9/07
I love the attention, the great rooms, and the spa, the food is overated but lots of local resturants to choose from. I go with a work group every year, and it is always a great get away. I would never make reservations for my self, since Court Yard is half the price, closer to other great resutrants and shopping areas. If you want to be secluded, and love massage, pampering, then the spa is a great get away and well worth the 100-200 you spend there for yourself. Lots of fun with other gals you work with or just your hubby and you.
