Mediocre Experience
By LAUREN, 04/28/08
The Inn looked really nice from the pictures but once we got there was not in as good shape as it looked. It could have been kept cleaner and needed to be painted. They did not offer a early check-in and were not very friendly at the front desk regarding check in. The pool is only 3 1/2 ft deep and pretty short, so not very practical for adults. We didn't see anyone using it the entire time of our visit. The wrap around porch is for all people staying at the inn so we had to keep our windows closed and could not sit and enjoy the view without having to worry about others walking around. There was not a lot of counter space in the bathroom so things kept falling on the floor and toilet and there was not a lot of room in the bedroom to hold things. To top it off our fire alarm kept going off and we had to have maintenence come a few times to mess with it. The only plus was ocean front and easy access to everything on the Isle of Palms.

We had a great time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/29/07
The people in the receiving area are not that friendly. The atmosphere is somewhat "dead". We just enjoy the beach and spent most of our time in the water. However there was this young man who from out of the blue helped us carry our stuff. We soon learned he was one of the housekeepers. The place itself wasn't bad though.. The price is fair enough for the amenities. The place is clean.

Never go there again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/07
The only positive for this motel is its beachfront location. Other than that it is a total rip off. They charge $5.00 per day (over and above the room rate and taxes) for parking and that is for a parking lot across the street. There are 7 or 8 spaces below the building but only a small car will fit down there and everyone pays the parking fee. The rooms are extremely small and cramped. No table and no chairs, no counter space in the bathroom and the coffee maker sits on a tv tray in the bedroom. The TV is small- maybe a 19" screen and the shower is tiny. The sink in the bathroom is wider than the shower. It rained while we were there and the wind blew water against the doors and the carpet was soaked over half the room. The maids and maintenance were not too interested in cleaning or drying up the water soaked carpets in the occupied rooms. No one even bothered to check to see if we needed maid service until after we complained at 3 in the afternoon of no maid service and wet carpet. The complimentary breakfast consists of cold cereal with milk and packaged muffins with coffee or juice in the lobby where there are no tables or anywhere to sit. You have to carry it back to your room. You would be better off staying anywhere but at this motel.

See you again in July
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/10/07
We love the location. You have a quaint little town with activities (dining, shopping, the beach)during the day. At night it turns into the night life atmosphere we were looking for. Best of all - within walking distance!!!! During the day you can drive the short distance to Charleston for all it has to offer, informative tours, and at night head to the ballpark for a River Dogs game - fun for the whole family. We found Sea Side Inn by accident, and this past visit was the 2nd time we've stayed there and plan on many happy returns. The hotel itself is nothing out of the ordinary, but it's clean, semi affordable, and the staff is accomodating. (Besides,a hotel room is just a place to store your luggage, shower, and sleep for a few hours.)The biggest neagative is parking - or the lack of, and the fee you have to pay per day. Next vacation will be in July, and we love it so much - we will be back. Thank you.

We are definately going back!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/29/07
We liked the Seaside Inn. It was a simple and compared to other places, inexpensive place to spend our vacation. It is in a nice, safe area right on the beach. When you don't spend a lot of time in your hotel, why spend a huge price. We have been to South Caroline twice in two years and both times stayed at the Seaside Inn. The people are very friendly. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable and nicely decorated. I understand they have even redecorated since we went a couple of years ago. Without spending huge prices, we had more money to spend on other things. The beach is beautiful and there are restaurants and stores, ice cream parlor, things like that within walking distance. We rented bikes and rode all over the neighborhood. We did not see any sleazy stores and the area is clean and wholesome. In the morning we spend our time in Charleston, its just about a 10 minute drive. In the afternoon when it got hot, we played at the beach. Very convenient to be able to just walk down the steps or go down an elevator and be at the beach, restaurants or town. My 5 star was because it is such a nice clean place for the value and so centrally located. I don't think you will be able to find a better deal for your money for being right on the beach. Its not fancy, its just a really nice place to stay.

We will never go back.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/06
We had a beach front room, which was nice; except you had to share a bacony with the rest of the hotel. So, we felt like we couldn't open the sliding glass door or blinds without someone looking in. The room was really small and room service only happened once in 4 days. They never replenished coffee in the room, so we had to go to the main office every morning to get more coffee. It had a TV in the room but it was far removed from the bed area. They have improved the hotel by installing new fixtures, but overall the improvements seemed more like a coverup than real improvements. The only real positve was that the hotel was very close to the beach.

I'll pass next time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/30/06
The room and anemities were not worth the price. The pool was closed off. The continental breakfast ok. Parking was bad. Cleaning crew was nice, but did not do a very good job. Our bathroom had NO counter space and the coffee area was a tv tray in the corner. Best thing was the location (on the beach and in "downtown" IOP). Your best bet is to just rent a house for a weeks stay or to stay in one of the less expensive hotels just off the island.

Good Visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/09/06
This is not fancy by any stretch of the imagination, but the rooms were clean and it is a great location, right off the beach. I would definitely return for a nice beach room at a reasonable rate.

I'd go back tomorrow!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/05/06
This place was great... right on the beach next to a number of restraunts and bars. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was smallish, but in amazing condition. It appeared to have been recently remodeled with all new high-end fixtures in the bathroom, and new furniture. The beds were described in the "ad" as full size, but were brand new very comfortable queens. I had a great stay there. (And someone mentioned it being dark... this must have been fixed in the remodel too, because with a ceiling fan light and other recessed fixtures, it was super bright in the room if we wanted it that way)
