What a nightmare.......

After selecting this hotel for a perfect get away, I began reading terrible reviews about the place. Thinking we would give it a shot anyway, especially since we would be out and about downtown and not really sitting in a hotel room, we arrived eager to begin our Andrew Pinckey Inn experience. Let me just say, our experience in Charleston was runined thanks to this place. The room was dirty- I mean, I am not too picky about hotels, but for $159.00 a night, you would expect better. The bathroom was dirty- toothpaste splatter all over the walls and mirror- and the shower curtain was mildewed and dingy. The bedspread (and wait, this gets better folks) was dirty and stained. Still, tired from our drive and hike through the city, we crashed instantly and took a nap. An hour or so later, I awoke to take a shower and then camped back out on the bed. I looked down, and on the bedspread, running away from me, were several tiny little red bugs! I shrieked and my husband came over to examine. He too was a bit stumped as to what they could be. As we inspected the rest of the bed, we discovered small black bugs and they were running towards the pillows and into the pillow cases! I got dressed, we killed a few of the nightly invaders, and took them to the front desk clerk. Adam, the clerk, was stumped as to what was smothered in the kleenex, but he offered to get us reservations at another hotel since they were booked for the night. By this time, it was 11:00 PM and we did accept his offer for other arrangements. We had to go back to the room to get our suitcases (thank goodness we did not unpack and had only laid ONTOP of the bedding). Bottom line, the location is great- the parking is very inconvenient (especially since you have to back out of the parking area) and Adam was awesome- but for the money and peace of mind of being about to sleep without wondering what is sleeping in bed with you, there are other hotels in the area, which are just as good, cheaper and probably fumigate and exterminate often. Needless to say, Room 219 needs a bug bomb and molly maid.
