Wonderful hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/9/11
My Wife, Sister and I went to rome for the first time. we were nervous, and completely exhausted when we arrived. The Hotel allowed us to check in early and was extremely helpful when we needed information. We were very happy with the service, breakfast and the rooms... We wish we were able to remember the names of the waiters that served us for breakfast... they were wonderful and we hope the hotel will recognize them. The management was extremely helpful, the hotel made us feel very safe in a city we had never been to before.... Thank You all so much !! we hope to return soon.

wonderfully quaint
By Annie Mae, 3/31/09
This hotel was a lovely retreat after a full days of walking through the craziness of rome. We were on the 6th floor, with a lovely view of the "hills of rome." The breakfast was delightful, I fell in love with the tortes! We also ate in the hotel "restaurant" many evenings and fell in love with the man working there. I would definately recommend this hotel again The staff was amazingly helpful, especially after our long transatlantic flight! The only complaint I would have is how thin the walls are! We were left to the mercy of our neighbors watching the football matches as to when we could finally get some rest.

a perfect retreat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/28/07
Overall the staff were very helpful, especially as we were two women travelling ourselves. They answered all our questions, how to use the metro. Also having access to the internet allowed us to plan our sight seeing and google places and tours. Perfect location for vatican and St peters where you can then get buses anywhere. The room was clean and the robes and dressing gown came in very handy as our luggage was delayed. Breakfast was also enjoyable and caters for all. There was splendid restaurants in close proximity, the mexican accross the road and La Baglaliere which has the most amasing tiramasu ever!!! Would recommend this hotel and will use again when I return to rome. As once is not enough.

City Jewel at Vatican City
By True Grit, 8/8/07
The hotel is modern chic with the best staff I have ever encountered at any hotel. The hotel is 300 meters from the entrance to the Vatican museum and all of the treasures of the City. The rooms are exquisite with the flavor of modern Rome. The staff was courteous and genuinely concerned about our enjoying the stay without any unexpected surprises. The breakfast was perfect, internet service is provided, and each evening we recieved a recommendation to another fine restaurant within walking distance of the hotel. When we left the hotel by car a staff member guided us to the autostrada in his car so we would not get lost!

Small Rooms but Very Clean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/22/07
I had done extensive research on the net to find a nice hotel near the Vatican before our trip. The Spring House was highly recommended by most sites and it turned out to be great. At first arrival it seemed in a bad neighborhood, rather dirty streets, grafatti walls, crazy parking, lots of sirens. But after a few days we came to realize this is ROME. The outside of the hotel is not enticing, but the inside is clean and crisp. The rooms are very small but clean. The location is perfect for the Vatican around the corner, up the steps and you are at the museum entrance. The metro is a few blocks the other direction and the entire city of Rome is much smaller than I expected and we walked everywhere! We saw so many exciting sites in only 7 days which included a bus tour to Pompeii, Hadrians Villa and the catacombs. All other stops were by metro or foot. I fell in Love with Rome and loved it much more than Paris or London. I can't wait to take my husband and kids. This trip was shared with my mother in law and our former exchange student from Berlin flew down for a few days. The restaurants around the hotel are very good including the Mexican one directly across the street. The front desk was helpful and the maids and maintenance personel were trustworthy and very through. Hope this helps your plans.

Good location
By MichaelA, 11/10/06
Just far enough off the beaten path, yet placed conveniently near the Vatican and other sights, this hotel was bright and modernly appointed. The room was well kept and had modern facilities which included a key card that you had to keep in a slot on the wall to enable the lights, A/C, TV and other services. I'm sure that this helped to regulate utility costs as the card would not enable things without your presence. Our room was on the fifth floor (near the top of the building) and offered a balcony/patio on the front of the building. I often enjoyed relaxing out there, taking in the sights and sounds around me while being afforded a view of the neighbor's roofs and TV antennas! Many of the surrounding buildings had rooftop terraces where the inhabitants could socialize and/or hang their laundry while being away from the street.

family of four from Sacramento
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/8/06
Great location, only a few blocks from the Vatican. Room a bit small for 2 adults with 2 adult children, but all worked out fine. Great breakfast, only hotel we stayed in during our 19 days that had a full "american" breakfast with eggs and bacon. Staff was quite helpful with all that we inquired about. Parking was a bit of a problem, had to park about 4 blocks away. But other than the parking, but parking in Rome is a hassle anyway. All in all I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to stay near the Vatican and within walking distance to most of the sites in downtown Rome.

Great Vatican Location
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/6/06
The entrance to the Vatican Museum is two blocks away, a 5-7 minute walk. Our room has a balcony to overlook the street which we enjoyed very much. The metro train station is about 10 minutes away and the front desk was most helpful in explaining how the train system work. We only took one taxi ride using the metro or tour bus for all other travel. The hotel and staff was very nice and helpful and I do not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. The complimentary breakfast included eggs which was a real treat for us Americans. The front desk also recommend a restaurant in the area which became our favorite in all of Italy after 12 days.

great breakfast and good neighborhood
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/25/05
Had a wonderful stay here, very nice staff. Our room was very small. Other than that, had a great experience and would recommend it. Located in what we felt was a very safe area, near the Vatican museums.
