Nice place !!
Let me say first, this is not a place to stay if you want to be really close to the area attractions, it's basically situated in a group of upper middle-class neighborhoods. I attended a class at the University of Houston-Clear Lake which was pretty much just across the street. Check in was easy and as we were headed out to find a place to eat, an employee told us they were about to cook hot dogs, hamburgers, etc...on the grill for all the guests, something they do every Wednesday according to the employee. We had to wait a little while but we had great burgers, chips, drinks (even beer) for free! We weren't told at check-in and might not have known at all if we hadn't run into an employee so maybe we just got lucky. The room was clean and very comfortable, my S.O. found the recliner very accomodating. There is no oven but you have a dishwasher, microwave, full-sized fridge, two-burner stovetop, toaster, pots & pans, utensils, plates, glasses,etc...There was a large walk-in closet with an ironing board, even a laundry basket! The best part was FREE washers and dryers, we left for home with clean, not dirty clothes. The staff were friendly and accomodating. There is only one way in and out, via the front desk/lobby area but there is an elevator for upper floors. Somewhat inconvienient but probably more secure. There are lots of restaurant choices in the area but I saw no grocery stores on Bay Area Blvd between the hotel and I-45. There may have been one off one of the main streets but we didn't look further if we couldn't see it from Bay Area Blvd. Research it first or ask the front desk, there is bound to be one nearby. There is a McDonalds and Denny's directly adjacent to the property. Wi-Fi is free! This was my first experience with Candlewood Suites but I will definitely look into this chain again.
