Description

Francis Silas Rodgers built this lovely mansion in 1887 which today is Hotel Wentworth Mansion. It is a beautiful residence with opulence oozing from its pores. Every little detail has been taken care of—from accommodations to the service. There's a lot of drama where the interiors are concerned. The furnishings are made of mahogany, oak and walnut, and tiled floors, crystal chandeliers, stained glass and ornate plasterwork rule all the rooms here. Sit by the fireplace on cool evenings or take a dip in the jacuzzi which is in every room. The service is superlative and one couldn't ask for more. For a vacation of style and elegance, Wentworth is your pick! Call +1 888 466 1886 (Toll Free).

Beautiful & Romantic Example of Charleston
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/5/10
The attitude of old southern charm and the historical site itself was a great place to relax and enjoy the finer things in life. My wife and I spent our second honeymoon here and what a beautiful place to spend it. The week consisted of the staff helping at ever opportunity. The restaurant on side "1886" was simply amazing. This topped our first honeymoon and we plan on going back for our 15th anniversary. I would recommend this place to anyone that would like to spend some time in a beautiful city with the one they love. FIVE STARS.

amazing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/8/07
The wentworth mansion is an unbelievable place for true southern charm and service. The mansion itself was breathtaking and the knowledgable staff was very attentive. Miss Betty is a gem and made each morning bright and cheery. I would highly recommend if you love romance and being treated with respect.

FANTASTIC!!!
By Nicholas, 4/9/07
I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience. From the moment that I pulled up to the parking lot there, where there were 2 bellman waiting. They gave us brief tour, and were incredibly knowledgable about the area. The concierge, who constanlty referred to me by my first name, Walter, was bending over backwards to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. In the morning, they served a European style buffet breakfast, and it was nice to see the sun rise on the Cupola... I can't wait to bring my wife!!

Fantastic service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/18/07
My wife and I spent a long weekend at the Wentworth Mansion in March of 2007. The property itself was better than any of the historic homes we toured, but I have never experienced service like they offer. It was a few blocks to get to the tourist areas, but we took the bicycle cabs which were fast and cheap. Easy to see why this is rated 5 stars.

DO NOT STAY HERE
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/5/06
My wife and myself stayed here for almost a week in May.. Everything we read about the hotel led us to believe it was a wonderful place. We were so MISLED. The location is too far to walk in the heat to downtown. Then you would have to drive and fight for parking The room we had was very dusty and dirty. It looks like it hasn t been cleaned very well at all. We are AVID travelers and this was the dirtiest room we have ever had.I was afraid to turn on the lampshade because everytime you touch the shade dust flied everywhere. We always stay at 4 or 5 star hotels and this was a HUGE disappointment. One morning I went to the breakfast buffet to get exactly 3 cinnamin rolls for my wife and myself. The woman tending the buffet told me, "Not to take SO many and leave some for other guests" I could not believe my ears., It wasn t as if I was grabbing a dozen or so. Is 3 rolls for 2 people too many? On a good note the concierge was helpful and efficent. Needless to say, I believe you can do much better at another hotel, especially for the high price and location...

Southern Elegance from a time gone by!
By MarciD, 6/4/05
The Wentworth Mansion is the utmost in beauty and elegance! My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary there and were treated like the King and Queen - even with a fabulous bottle of chilled champagne up in the cupola over looking the lights of the city of Charleston below. I was told this is the highest point in the city and it certainly was a sight to behold. We slept great on the most wonderful and luxerious mattresses, manufactured especially for the Wentworth from a South Carolina Manufacturer - Best Mattress, Co in Columbia. Pricy trip, but worth every single penny and I am looking forward to returning.

Southern Charm at its Best!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/17/05
The mansion, the suite, the service, everything was perfect. We have never stayed in a more beautiful place than Wentworth Mansion. Our room was full of history, southern charm and still all the modern luxuries you would want. Ladies, the bathroom was amazing with marble black & white tile floor, a huge shower for two, and all the extras. The bathroom did not have a jacuzzi though, the jacuzzi was in the bedroom next to a huge window overlooking the Charleston's Historic District!! Breakfast was whatever you liked, and served to you in bed on elegant china. My husband and I were treated like royalty during our entire stay, we would hihly reccomend Wentworth Mansion to anyone whoe would like to experience Charleston at its best!
