Days Inn El Paso

As a shareholder of the Wyndham hotel chain, I like to frequent the 'brand(s).' Clearly, this was a bad choice for me on this night. I stayed the night there on June 28th 2008 hoping for a good night sleep after traveling 12 hours on the road only to be awakened through out the night by the smell of stale cigarettes. I asked specifically for a non-smoking room and was bitterly disappointed. The next morning I told the clerk how aggravated I was by this and handed her the 2 ashtrays from the previous user. She did knock off 4 bucks and change but I'd gladly have let her have it back for a good nights sleep and a 'clean' room.
The room itself could have easily been mistaken for a 1990's hotel chain in its glory days. However, the peeling paint on the walls and the calcium build up on some of the plumbing fixtures makes me wonder how long it has been since this room actually had a good 'spring cleaning!'
I am sorry to say but this will most likely be my last time in a Days Inn. With America's Best Value Inn coming in at nearly 20 bucks cheaper for a cleaner, easier breathing room, I see no reason to support 'the home team.'
