Apple Tree Inn was a delight
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/21/07
We were very happily surprised at how nice this place is. Although there was a snafu in our booking and we did not have the suite I had booked originally, the room we got was so spacious we didn't mind. It was clean and nicely set up. We loved having the fireplace and the French door to the outside. A mama and baby deer came right up to it one evening. It was so nice having the feel of being right in the woods with nature there. The thing I loved the best was the heated indoor swimming pool. It was so clean and the temperature was so perfect, that I slipped right into it without a cold shock. I had it to myself twice. With the fresh air coming in through the open windows it was great. My husband and I had fun playing Racquetball in the court one day - $5 for an hour and they provided the racquets and ball. The spa was equally as nice as the pool - very clean and fresh. Having Tenaya lodge next door, with a trail to it from the cabins at Apple Tree was so nice. We took advantage of the $40 certificate good for any of the restaurants in Tenaya for only $20, added on to the room one night. I totally disagree with the other reviewer about the "high end" restaurant there. The two dinners I had were Awesome (Macadamia crusted Halibut with coconut risotto once night and a Shrimp and Scallop dish with rice noodles and a Thai curry the other). Yum!! We would definitely stay here again.

How lucky we were to find this beautiful place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/06
We came without a reservation, just a general idea of what Apple Tree Inn looked like from their website, and were we ever surprised! It is wonderful, romantic & cozy - we loved waking up to the fireplace heating our little bit of heaven. The room was clean, the grounds were beautiful and the pool & hot tub an added bonus after hiking around Yosemite. We can't wait to return.

Stay Away!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/16/06
The picture of the lobby is great, and it looks great in real life, but the great part ends there. We were locked out of our room twice. Imagine standing there waiting to get items from your cabin to leave for the day, being delayed a long time while the staff makes several attempts to get you in your own cabin, only to be told the entire lock needs replacement, and we were eventually told the cabin would not be locked while we were away (my computer, etc. inside). No compensation for our delay was offered. The breakfast food was okay, but dishes and silverware had a lot of standing water on them. Yanni-like music was played fairly loudly during breakfast (CDs or cassettes are on sale in the lobby). Everyone was looking around at each other wondering if the music was supposed to put us in some sort of nature-lover mood for a day at Yosemite, it was annoying. Lobby landscaping was appreciated, until it was realized that the very noisy gardening tractors start zipping by our windows at 6:30 AM. Cabins were in poor condition. From the look of the baseboards, no painting had been done in the last 20 years. Carpets were highly stained and bathrooms were old and dirty. Screen was missing from bathroom window. The location says 2 miles from Yosemite, but this is the south entrance. Please realize it is a 1 hour drive along a very curvey road to the Yosemite Valley, which is where most tourists want to go. I will not return and hope that you make a better choice than I did!

Beautiful setting
By Hally, 08/13/05
My husband and I, along with our parents stayed one night. We stayed in a nice cabin with three units. The second floor unit has a king size bed, and a second private room with a double. All rooms except one had a deck overlooking the Inn nestled among the redwood trees. Very tranquil, until latter that evening. Two men and one woman were arguing around 11:30pm. They were talking /yelling loudly at each other. This went on for approx. 20 minutes. I called front desk and advised of the loud talking. The front desk receptionist stated that she had no one to send to investigate the problem. The yelling continued well into the night. I eventually fell asleep from exhaustion from the day in Yosemite. However, I would come back and stay again. The Tenaya Lodge in next door a short walk down a path. I would not eat at their high end restraunt. Was not all that good.

Wonderful mountain cottage
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/10/05
This was a wonderful stay for a family of four. The cottage rooms were nicely decorated and plenty spacious. The thermostat controlled fireplace was warm enough for the snowy April weather. The staff was friendly. The little store was cute for trinkets. There is VCR video rental for evening kid entertainment other than chancing what is on TV. The pool and racquetball court are a nice bonus. This is a definite "return" place for our family.

Spring Break in Yosemite
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/27/05
We stayed at the Apple Tree Inn for two nights during our spring break trip to Yosemite - two adults and three children. The rooms are set up in cottages, three units in the particular cottage in which we were staying. The accomodations were very comfortable and the roominess for our family was a welcome change from the prior place we had stayed. I was disappointed that they did not have a rollaway bed as advertised in the Yahoo listing, but they provided a mat at no charge. The fireplace is controlled by the thermostat and so it turns on and off to heat the room - cozy, at least when it was on to heat up the room. It provided plenty of heat, and it was still chilly in Yosemite in March. It is just south of the south entrance, and so was a very convenient launching pad into the park. I would definitely recommend this place, and would stay here again.
