Charoen Thani, Ban pet

I stayed here on my 1st trip to Khon Kaen, Thailand in May 2007. I spent a week at this hotel and found the accomodation to be very clean, though the size of the room was a bit smaller than I had expected. I had a room on one of the higher floors, but the view is only enjoyable at night time with the view of the city lights. During the day, there isn't anything enjoyable to look at as the city of Khon Kaen is not particularly attractive. However, room service was good; mini-bar in the room very nice and re-stocked daily and housekeeping was very punctual. Also I like the convenient option to exchange currency at the front desk. On the negative side, the staff weren't always helpful; the Internet never worked in the lobby (I think because they want you to use and pay for the Internet Cafe located on the property) and they do not offer a free shuttle service to the local airport. I found both the pool and weight room to be acceptable, though a bit unimpressive. Overall I enjoyed my stay and at about $50 a night, this place is a bargain! But, I have heard that the Sifotel (located near) is a much nicer hotel and the room rate is about the same.

This hotel should be rated as 3 stars and a half. I dislike: 1.Trash can without trash bag. 2.Old and worn out furniture unlike other four stars hotel I visited. 3.Broken TV and remote control that does not work. 4.Mold and mildew stain in the bath tub. 5.Canot get service or respond for someone to get me hot water. 6.The swimming pool have only one deepth 1.50 m. I like: 1.The food at Tycoon Chinese Restaurant was great.All you can eat Dim Sum for 199 baht! 2.You get a refreshing welcoming drink when you check in. 3.I was satisfy with the free American breakfast.
