Beautiful Resort, Delicious Food, Great Service

Visited the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar for the first time a few months ago, and I can't wait to go back! The property is beautiful, just like how you picture old Mexico, and has pools and gardens sprinkled throughout. It was lovely to just go for walks all over the resort. I really enjoyed dinners at De Cortez, and light meals at the poolside bar. The breakfast buffet (included as part of our packaged stay) was surprisingly plentiful and a great way to start the day. Plus there's a swim-up bar that I couldn't get my husband to leave!
You can't really swim in the ocean, which is disappointing but I think that's true in all of the area since the ocean and gulf tides are coming together at that point. It didn't really matter to us, though. The pools and the sand are more than enough.
I think most of the issues people have had here with the hotel is that there are timeshares on the property. It was my impression that they're totally separate entities, so it's a little unfair to ding the hotel when the issue is with the timeshares. We were never even asked to attend a presentation.
Even if it hadn't been such a fabulous trip, it was an incredible value...but everything was beyond my expectations.
