Very Disappointing Visit
Very Disappointing Visit.
I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and motels around the world...some obviously better than others. This is the first time I feel compelled to share with you my disappointment in my recent stay at the Days Inn located in Ocean Shores, WA.
Upon arrival, at first glance, the facility looked clean and well kept. Unfortunately, as we checked in and proceeded to our room, it was a whole other story.
Each room is accessed from the outside. It is a two story building. The first thing I noticed was coffee cans placed near the railings for discarded cigarette butts. The problem was each can was very full and the smell was horrible.
With in a foot of the door to our room was a trash can with an attached ashtray. Also filled with butts. Having to smell that each and everytime we entered and exited our room was horrible. I asked for the trash can to be relocated, but my requests were ignored.
Even with the ash trays and coffee cans, there were several cigarette butts on the walk way to the rooms that remained there our entire stay.
On one evening there were 15-20 people on the balcony smoking, next to our room. The smoke and their loud voices kept us from being able to sleep. I contacted the front office to ask them to do something about it, they said they would. However, the noise and smoke continued for quite sometime. It should be noted that Washington State Law mandates that smoking not occur within 25 feet of any entrance to a building. I would assume that includes motel room doors.
The room seemed old and smelled. The toilet seat was very old and stained. The glass bi-fold closet door was hard to open and came off its hinges several times. The safe in the closet did not work.
On a safety matter, there is a little alcove on the first floor level of the motel where it appears they store cleaning supplies (liquid cleaners, etc.) and crushed boxes. Right next to the boxes is a garbage can with ashtray. The ashtray was full.
Liquid cleaners, crushed boxes and ashtrays spell fire hazard.
I need to say that this experience has really made me question whether I would stay at another Days Inn or other Wyndham property. We would have checked into another hotel, unfortunately because of a popular annual event that was occurring, finding a vacancy was next to impossible.
It is my hope that your company will take a very close look as to the management of this venue. I assume, and hope, you expect better.
Thank you for the opportunity to give you feedback on my stay.
