Poor casino
By ray ray, 02/01/10
2 Weeks ago me and my fiance drove from Baton Rouge to your casino to play the slots and maybe stay the night. I called the casino and checked for the room rates and informed the person i spoke with that i had been there before and had a players card. After all the information was given i decided not to stay because of the room rate and we were going to go to our usual casino The grand. When i said that the person told me that we could bring in our free play coupons and the your casino would double the offers to play there. We decided to go to your casino instead of course and maybe find a new casino to go to instead of the Grand. Once we arrived we were told no that this offer could not be done and was told that a host would be with me shortly so after a 15 min wait a host arrived who would not even look me in the eye or face me all he did was stand to his side and all he said was "its against casino policy" to ANY question i asked. I was very aggravated with the service of your host and the lies told to me on the phone to get me in your casino. If lying is your casinos policy then i see whay everyone i know goes to the grand. Very dissapointed with this casino in all matters.

poor customer service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/09
I recently stayed at Island View Casino Resort. When we first arrived we pulled in to register (same area as valet at the door) weren't really sure about where to park to do this. (we had somewhere else to be so we weren't ready to unload the vehicle and all that) The valet employee watched us drive up, never took his eyes off us, we sat there for a minute waiting for him to approach so we could find out where to park to run in and register. He walked off as he was looking at us and went in the building which we thought was very rude. We decided to leave the vehicle sit as there were other empty vehicles sitting in the 3 valet rows and nobody behind us. As we were getting out of the vehicle he came running out wanting our information to park us. I told him we weren't going in to register and we weren't going to allow him to park us because of his actions. He said we will be moving the vehicle or he will have it towed. (he wanted us to move it 5ft away in to the other lane and there were no other cars around us or behind us. We left the vehicle there and told him to have it towed and went inside and complained. They appologized for him and said it is not their policy to have anyone towed. Also on the day of check out my boyfriend and I went downstairs for breakfast, and decided afterwards to go in seperate directions. He was getting the vehicle I was to go to the room to grab my bag and meet him. I wasn't thinking and didn't have a the room key. I went to the front desk and let them know I was locked out and briefly explained. The lady (Rebecca) was very rude and seemed inconvienced to help me. Being that I was locked out and my purse was in the room with my key I had no I.D to show her for her to verify who I am. She rudely tells me she has to call security to walk me up to the room and I'm just going to have to wait for them and walked away. I understand policy, that was fine I didn't mind at all. I also appreciate they do that for security purposes. I didn't appreciate the attitude and rudeness. Overall, the hotel rooms are clean. The customer service was terrible. I'm sure to stay somewhere else next time I'm in Gulfport. I give them a poor rating based on customer service.

Worst staff and food in the city!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/20/08
We took my father to the casino for Fathers Day and had the worst experience. The hotel buffet had several items that should be hot that were almost ice cold and the staff could have cared less if we were there. Food had about as much flavor as an old dish cloth, which they should actually learn to use. I don't know how the food rating even made it as high as a B with so many food violations. The casino was much nicer looking and clean but that's where the compliments stop. We played in the same slot area for 2 hours and couldn't get a waitress/waiter to even acknowledge that we were even there. Talked to multiple "managers" that reassured us that they would have someone over immediately...no one ever came. We had to finally go to the cashier cage to get a real manager. He got us with the beverage manager that only gave a half attentive apology. I ended up having to take the drinks to my family who took a sip of them, cached out and left. Went to the Beau Rivage and had drinks in hand before I could pull the slot handle 2 times. The Island View has lost this family and would do well to follow a real casino's lead. This by far is the worst casino I have ever had the misfortune to spend time in.

Going back next week
By Rick, 05/09/08
Great experience. Room very clean even though they only had a smoking room and we do not smoke there was no smoke smell. Buffet was excellent, great comps with average play and we got coupons in the mail a week after we got back home for free room nights and$ 175 in comp play each. Going back next week for 3 nights.

Going Back Real Soon -- Love Island View
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/19/08
We are not high rollers and basically just play slots but we love this place. The rooms, service, and food is just plain great. We have been there four times after the hurricane. We had visited the coast several times before the hurricane. The buffet is exceptional. The Grill is very good (a little expensive but a nice treat). People are courteous and professional. We have been to Vegas numerous times and love the Island View experience. We just made reservations for next month for us, and we are taking some friends to share the good times. We are thrilled to see the area bouncing back and we love the people there. Highly recommend.

Frequent Gulf Coast Visitor
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/26/07
We have been coming to the Mississippi Gulf coast since the first casinos opened. We stayed many times at the old Gulfport Grand. Island View is in that same location and we enjoy it even more. We are not high rollers, so we love the slots and table games offered here. The rooms are very nice. The buffet is among the best we have ever had at any casino and Emerils is what you would expect for a 5 star restaurant. You will feel relaxed and if you are a penny player, you'll never want to go anywhere else.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/24/07
We have traveled the casino circuit for over 20 yrs. The Island View is superior to all others. Our rooms are superb, Our Host Jack Jodon is by far the most outstanding, customer oriented Host we have had. Betsy Moglin and her team should be celebrated. Great Job...you keep us coming back. Great!
By A Yahoo! User, 11/05/07
I really enjoyed the place. I ate at emerils restrant too and enjoyed it very much! The rooms where very spaces and the beds where one of the best ones I ever sleep on. In fact I would like to find out what make it was and buy one for home. Great for the money. The only negative thing I can say is checking in was a big ordial and I even had a reservation too. But It was worth the wait.
