3/24/07
Made a reservation for the night of 3/23/07. Was not informed until we arrived that the entire hotel was in the midst of a renovation. Remodeling equipment and supplies were scattered throughout the hotel and parking lot. The hall that our room was in half covered in plastic, drywall dust, and other remodeling debris. Doors to rooms were off the hinges and the hall way windows were wide open to circulate the air so the dust and smell was lessened. And it appeared that the construction crew was also staying at the hotel as some passed with a few cases of beer.
When a complaint was made to the Front Desk, they did offer another room, however, upon inspection of that room (which was away from the construction and on the first floor) we found the room was filthy. Heavy dust cover, the covers on the bed appeared to be vintage 1970's colors, the wall paper was torn, the floor edging was ripped, and some of the furniture was broken. Upon inspecting the bathroom, the tub was dirty and the wall and ceiling above the shower/tub had mold growing on it.
A refund was immediately requested of the Front Desk, and it was processed quickly with apologies. However, this is not the type of hotel and experience we expect from Marriott having stayed in a few throughout the USA and have been good experiences.
The hotel is smoke-free, however, while we were parked under the front door canopy, there were individuals standing right at the door smoking as you walked in.
Overall, a horrible experience and appearance. We ended up staying at Holiday Inn-Express and were very pleased.
