Occidental Grand Punta Cana All-Inclusive, Punta Cana

We were at this resort 5 years ago and are booked now for Feb11-2012 and can't wait:) love everything about it..

This was the best vacation ever, I read some of the reviews and I was wondering if we were at the same resort. It is not new as the others, however the beach is beautiful and the service is great. They did all they could to pamper us during our stay. The restaurants were not all open.

We loved the beach, the food and of course, the .The hotel was okay,.We had some water damage in the bathroom.

I absolutely loved the resort! The beaches were beautiful, the pools were clean, the rooms were clean, the food was delicious! I would absolutely come back to the resort without hesitation and would recommend it to all my friends and family!!!

We went there 3 years ago and we are going back. We loved the beach, the food and of course, the El Presidente. The hotel was okay, we had ants in the bathroom and some water dammage in the bathroom. I know, why are we going back??!! It's the beach and food...lol

My husband and I are Royal Club members. The dining experience in the club was excellent; food and service. However, overall we were not content with the hotel's level of customer service and professionalism. Many of the staff were not friendly and helpful. Maybe because the average employee is paid $325 U.S. dollars per month. I've been to several Occidental Resorts in Puerto Plata, DR, and found the service levels to be much better than the one in Punta Cana.

We love the people who work there, the food, beach, pool and the evening activities. The bartenders, Socrates and Nestor are tow of our favorites. Love dancing with JoVonny and Ricky is great with shows. and the disco is so much fun. The rooms are clean and the beach is gorgeous. This is our 7th time to visit. I think this speaks for itself. My husband, myself and another couple go together. I would recommend this resort. The only negative thing are the mosquitos, just take some good repellent and you will be ok. Have fun at the Paradisus in Punta Cana.

We loved staying here! There are 3 choices at this resort - the hotel, the Royal Service, and The reserve. WE stayed at the reserve. Awesome experience. Beautiful grounds, excellent food from all of the different restaurants, clean & friendly staff, The reserve opened in Dec. of 08, very new and posh. Very private. Beach is wonderful. Very relaxing. Nice entertainment every night. We have traveled to many places and stayed at many different all inclusive resorts - this was the best ever. We would recommend this place to our very best of friends and family. The resort is more beautiful than their web page . Gi Gi

We went 3 years ago in 2006 and after reading all the reviews we decided it was the place to go. I just have to say that we were not disappointed. We are a family of 3 little girls and all of us had a blast, my 6 yr old and I sailed together which she just loved the pool was great cause it was a few short feet away from the sand and the sand beds are terrific to relax in. We were so happy with our vacation that we just booked 7 days back to Paradisus for 2009 vacation. Love the 12 restraunts that really was the icing on the cake for us. Primo

Pluses - nice beach with beautiful white sand, nicely decorated and trimmed property, the pool is great, with a swim-up bar. Dinners in restaurants are OK, the Mediterranean and French restaurants are very decent Minuses - personnel is trying to be friendly, but they are very sloppy. For example, there was the housekeeper's or previous guests' hair all over the floor in our suite. So, my wife had to do extra cleaning herself. Also, the personnel are not fluent in English. Buffet is open only for breakfast, poor choice of tasteless food. Lunch in the restaurant by the beach is not bad, but same dishes every day. One day, my wife found a rubber band in her food at this restaurant! The main reason we chose this hotel was the all-inclusive activities, such as scuba diving. Howvever, because of the constant waves (and as we found out later, there are huge waves at this particular place of Punta Cana because of its location), I couldn't do any scuba diving. So, we had to book a separate trip to Catalina Island in the Caribbean sea (near La Romana), where I did scuba diving, and my family enjoyed snorkeling, both for extra charge, obviously. We did not feel safe at the beach, especially for our little daughter, because there are a lot of strangers there roaming around trying to sell you smth or sign you up for smth. The nightly entertainment shows are very poor and of low quality. We also had problems with our keys, twice. When we tried using them to open the door to our room, they did not work. And mind it - because of the huge hotel territory, it takes you 15 minutes to get to the lobby to fix them. Another thing - there is no alcohol in your room's bar, and the choice of alcoholic beverages on the hotel's property is very poor. One more thing - they are trying to promote the Reserve area of this hotel by booking you on a 90-minute tour (which in reality took three hours), with the purpose of making you sign up for some kind of a timeshare. Our concierge said that if we attend the tour, we will get a one week of free stay at the Reserve, valid for the next two years. So, we attended this three hour tour and totally wasted our time, and the people were puttting a lot of pressure on us trying to make us sign up for this program. We refused at the end, and guess what? They did not offer us any free stay at the Reserve! (And the concierge later said that they recently discontinued doing so). So, we really very much regretted wasting our precious vacation time on this. Here is our advice - stay away from this particular place, it is not worth your money, it is such a dissapointment. If you are planning a trip to the Dominican Republic, choose a hotel at the Caribbean coast. We decided for ourselves that Riviera Maya in Mexico is much-much better and costs less. P.S.
