Super 8 Downtown Riverwalk, San Antonio

The location is great for a tourist. . We stayed only one night. Parking is Free. The room was very well appointed, clean, spacious and comfortable. The only staff we saw was the lady at the check in desk who was efficient and pleasant enough. I was impressed that she recognized my accent straight off.

Had seen reviews, but when I got to front desk, Debra was very friendly.I found out through her, new Mgmt had taken over and remodeling had been done. The room I got was freshhly painted & clean. I would stay again, even the maintenance man was friendly. THANKS DEBRA & THANKS TO CHRISTINA. P.S. like your halloween decorations....

This place screwed up my account by overcharging me, and everytime I called to fix the mistake I was told to call back later or they would take my number and call me back. Every time I talked to them was very difficult, the girl screwed up my reservations 5 times before I got them right with someone else. I would not make a reservation and hold it with my credit card!!

For the price it didn't seem that bad to me. I had a room close to the overpass and I didn't have any problems with noise or anything. I think the only real problem I had was there was two soda machines on the grounds, one of them was broken and the other was empty. I know that's mostly a Coke thing but the staff could have called them and reported the problem. Otherwise I was satisfied with my stay and even my wife seemed okay with it.

We arrived at this motel on Saturday 4/12/08 around 6:30pm (check in was 3pm). We were told that our room may not be cleaned yet b/c they let someone else use it for a few hours. The front desk lady gave us our key and told us to check it out for ourselves, she was very nice but why are we checking it? The room was fine, we just wanted to shower and head to the riverwalk for dinner. The taxi brought us back to the motel around 11-11:30pm from dinner. We went to our room and our key did not work. We then went to the front desk to find the doors locked and a sign that said "be back in 30 minutes". Well, it isn't the nicest of areas, but we figured 30 minutes wasn't that long. With our car keys locked in the room we waited in the parking lot. Well other people started having the same issue. After waiting in the parking lot for over 1.5 hours, I started to bang on the door again. This time a live in house keeper heard me and had a master key and let us all into our rooms. When I tried to speak to the GM in the morning, he told me to screw off and turned around and waled away. The showers were completely ice cold and the GM is a complete jerk. I would never stay there again. The only reason we did in the first place was b/c no other place near the riverwalk had rooms available. We paid around $170 and found out by speaking the the others locked out that they paid around $60. We were way over charged and had to spend a lot of time in the parking lot and then had to deal with a jerk. Next time I will save my money and sleep in the streets if I have to instead of staying there.

We had a little trouble with the A/C in the room but they very quickly moved us to a different room. Good breakfast. People are nice and accomadating. I plan on staying there again this year!

I liked the location. I especially liked the customer service that the desk clerk gave me (Cristy). My family and I thought I had reserved it somewhere else and kinda got lost looking for it. I called the front desk and Cristy was very, very patient and directed my family and I to the location. I appreciate customer service from the location. The only thing I didn't like was that the ice machine on the 2nd floor was not working. Other than that it was very quiet and clean.

Rooms were not clean. Beds were old and small with dirty mattress. Sheets were torn and had old, worn out blankets on the beds. Didn't even have a real mattress pad on the bed. Room smelled musty. Holes in the walls of the tub/shower. No hot water for the first hour, and the power went out as well. Needless to say, we left.

I stayed at this Super 8 recently and locked the bathroom door while I was taking a shower. When I finished my shower, I could not get out of the bathroom. The lock on the bathroom door would not release. I was staying at this motel by myself, so no one knew that I was locked in the bathroom. And I did not take my cell phone into the bathroom, so I could not call for help. After 30 minutes of twisting, jerking and pulling vigorously on the doorknob, I was able to break-off the doorknob and take apart the lock mechanisms inside the door...and ultimately get out of there! The next morning I handed the front desk clerk all of the doorknob parts in an ice bucket, and said that I would like a refund for last night's stay. He said that I would need to call back when the manager was there.
