rigid place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/30/11
We booked this room as guests of owners. And, we were told that the room had "2 queen beds" when I called to confirm the booking. We had never been there before. It actually had 1 queen size bed and one queen size bed foldout couch. My son was terribly uncomfortable. I had paid for a $100 upgrade, but had to change our travel dates by a few weeks, and was told that I lost my money and upgrade. They are very rigid in scheduling and because of that and the many negative reviews on the internet.... I refused the concierge service to sell us a timeshare here. I won't buy into something that dictates my life and makes me do things I don't want to do. That seems a ridiculous waste of money!!! Not sure what Diamond is thinking there. Much to the chagrin of the very pushy woman at check in, I flat out told her to back off and she did, but I had to get very assertive with her. But, after avoiding that issue, we had no further problem with the pushy aggressive sales they are noted for. Aside from the bed issue, which was a total deal breaker for us and I will book somewhere else next time due to that lie, the place was gorgeous! How could it not be? Sedona is one of the most beautiful places in the world. When a resort is in this beauty, there is no way to fail! The pools and the grounds were very nice. The activities were great and the BBQ areas were nice as well. It is unfortunate that they didn't give us 2 queen beds as promised so all in our party could be comfortable. And, I did call ahead, so I am very dissatisfied at that point. Seven days is a long time to get bad sleep and my son ended up on the floor instead, but he was pretty grumpy by the end of the trip. And, it is unfortunate that I lost my $100. But, with all that said and done, Sedona Summit is a beautiful place to stay, especially if it is only a couple and you avoid the concierge area. Also, the grills and kitchens make it possible to make food here and eat in beauty and avoid the high priced restaurants in town. So, just be careful in booking and make sure you are getting what you pay for and that you aren't walking in thinking that you will be comfortable with 4 people in a studio... one or two WILL NOT BE.

I like it BUT.......
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/16/11
I did like the resort. The rooms were very nice and the area and views were breath taking. But there were a couple of things that anowed me. -BBQs--- In the area that I was in, there are three BBQs. Neither BBQ worked properly. The BBQs were very old, ragged, and looked like they were stolen from some poor public park. They wobled everywhere and they looked like they were ready to fall at anytime. I called the front desk about them and they sent someone over to meet me there to help me. The maintence worker told me that they have been broken for a long time but that nothing has been done. ;-( Then there are the washers and dryers. My wife told me that only one of the washers works and there is no sign to tell you which one. Oh and NO free WIFI.... I hated that!!!!!!

Nice Room, great location, lousy service
By Joe, 3/9/11
We traded a 1 bedroom from Marriott Vacation Club through Interval for a 1 bedgroom here at Sedona Summit. We checked in on a friday afternoon early in March. It was very busy, but they had plenty of staff to handle the extra people. After check in, we were sent to the concierge for our parking pass. This is where they bribe you into taking a time share presentation. We received $99 dollars off a 2 person 90 minute Jeep Tour through Soldiers Pass. We were also promised a 2 night stay at another diamond resort. While we did receive the 2 night voucher, we have to use it between sept 2011 and sept 2012, and we have to submit 2 choices of when and where we want to go, so any given date is not guaranteed. We took the bribe, and had the presentaion, which lasts 90 minutes. We stuck to our guns, saying no at every turn, and we got out on time. Others were not so fortunate, one couple we spoke to said they took 3 hours. The one bedroom suite is quite comfortable for 2 people. The bed is super comfy. Only complaint on the room, is that the description for the trade in said a room with a jacuzzi. There was no jacuzzi. Also, very few rooms have a view of the red rocks, and those are reserved for the owners. But, who cares, walk outside 10 feet and there they are. All in all it's a nice place to stay while exploring Sedona and Red Rock Country. Just dont expect much from the concierge. 4 out of 5 stars

Tips to fight sales pitch
By SteveS, 7/2/10
Zoey twisted our arm to sit through a 90 min sales pitch. We went ahead and sat through the presentation knowing full well that we would never buy such a thing. At first it was a friendly one on one till the salesman asked us what was important to us in our lives and started off on this "if you only had a year to live , what would you do?angle" At that point I became depressed and started off on a negative counter approach. As a person who makes a living off supporting sales people, I learned very early on that negativity derails a pitch and salespeople are extremly sensitive to it. At one point I told the presenter that I could become so negative that I could become anti-matter. The guy was really pleasant, and I left the pitch feeling sorry for him, although it was probably like trying to sell an eskimo a pair of swimming trunks. I had absolutley no idea how a time share works and really didnt want to learn. Another good derailer was the fact that the mrs.started to cry during the pitch. Once it was over we went back to our crappy little room and I poured her a glass of wine.Went up to Cathedral Rock and soaked up some energy. Turned out to be a good day after all

Great place... aweful sales pressure at check in
By Leroy B, 8/5/09
We make a trip to Sedona at least twice a year for the weekend and during our last trip were completely frustrated with our experience at the Summit. We arrived and were told that we needed to go to a specific line to check it, even if there were other people standing ready to check people in. The lady that checked us in was more interested in getting us to go to a presentation. As an owner, we had not been to a presentation in more than 6 months. The lady would not take no for an answer. She asked me if we would consider it in a very friendly manner. We told her no three times. She then become really short with us and wouldn’t give us back our credit card until we told her we would think about it. We again said no, and this time she gave us our credit card and key cards. We finally got checked in and the one bedroom we got was excellent. We had a sunset view and a view of the red rocks. The next morning at 8 am we got a phone call from the front desk to reconsider taking the sales presentation, we told them no not during this trip. They insisted on trying to book a future presentation, with a 50 dollar deposit today. We repeated no and hung up the phone. We got another call at the same time the next day and decided to unplug the phones in the living room and bedroom and enjoyed the rest of our stay.

Nature is the only perfection
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/09
Red Rock Country & the scenery is awesome & spectacular. Prepare yourself, however, the staff at the summit is going to be a let-down....When we checked in... we were VERY tired, just wanting to get in our room, the sales pitch began for going to a "presentation"......we did not have towels provided when we needed them after 2 days(practically had to beg for them), and were told our room could only be cleaned one time per week unless we wanted to pay a daily surcharge. I personally took our trash & linens over to the lobby to the front desk to be told to take them back to the room. After we complained to RCI, we noticed our room was cleaned the next day (no surcharge). While most of the staff was pleasant, there was a night auditor there that was flat-out rude to us in his tone. I cannot believe he is in the hospitality business. Carpet was dirty, kitchenware was scarce. We did not have shampoo provided and bought some at a nearby Walgreen's. I detect that there is a morale problem here with the employees. Diamond Resorts...please treat RCI customers with more respect! We will not return.

Would go back again.
By lori chavez, 6/14/09
Room we stayed in was just remodelled. Updated erverything. They even have an ihome for ipod which was nice and a flat screen tv. Not that there was much time for either. However, they do pressure to go buy a timeshare. I own one. I do not need another one if i can go there already.

Never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/22/09
Staff only interested in getting us into the sales presentation. Room was terrible, dirty and almost everything in the kitchen was broken. The floor, carpet and couch were disgusting. The only positive note was the bed and pillows - very comfortable. View? Not from where anywhere on the first floor - all we could see was the unit next door from any window. Lobby was bad, couldn't get onto computers, staff totally unhelpful and doesn't seem to care about your stay. The activities in the lobby were lame at best and this place was so far away from town that you had to drive 10 minutes to get a cup of coffee, donut or newspaper in the morning (as neither was provided). Thought this was a "resort"? Would never go this place again. For the price, we could have stayed closer to town at a nicer place. Loved Sedona!
