Walked in and left without staying.
By Scott, 10/19/09
We made our reservation online. The area of town that the hotel is located is not ideal. There were strange people loitering in the parking lot. And the hotel looked very run down. When I went in and was going to check in I noticed the place to be filthy with a foul odor. I looked over and noticed what appeared to be the pool but looked like a half of a pool. It was at this time that I decided there was no way I was going to allow my family to stay in this hotel. I went up to the desk and asked if it was too late to cancel my reservation they informed me that it was but I could try to call the number that I made my reservation. I will say that the ladies at the desk were friendly but the hotel was no place I would ever stay. I ended up going down the road a few miles to a much safer, cleaner and more convieniant area. I paid for two rooms that night but I warn anyone thinking of staying here to BEWARE!

I would go back without hesitation
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/08/08
We stayed at BW from Jan 3rd thru Jan 7th for Navy graduation. Very clean, pool was clean and warm. Location was very handy. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. They ran 3 shuttles to Navy base and everyone got their in plenty of time. Shuttle can't be on base after 11:45am, but they were back to pick us, and our sailor, right on time. Made us feel very welcome. Nice continental breakfast, if you went hungry it was your own fault. Clean dining area, hotel personel was right their to keep everything stocked and clean. Thank you BW for a very nice stay, a special thanks to Dan for all your help.

Only one shuttle To Navy Base
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/08/07
The brochure we got for Navy graduation stated free shuttle to and from base. They failed to mention it's ONE shuttle and leaves at 0700 with return at 1100. PLUS, IT'S FIRST COME FIRST SERVE AND ONLY ONE VAN FULL!!! That means not very many people and no time to see your graduate afterwards--or to make arrangements with him/her. We only stayed here with hopes to have the easy shuttle to graduation.

Confirm your reservation!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/06
I stayed at this Best Western on May 24th and 25th, 2006 when taking my family to Six Flags which is about 5 miles away. I made the reservation through the national Best Western 1-800 number in April. The night before we left I just happened to call to confirm although I didn't think it would be necessary because I received an E-mail in April saying that the reservation had went through. When I called they had no record of the reservation or the rate I had been quoted. I then had to remake the reservation and bring the E-mail to get the rate ($64 Wed, $73 Thur) which they said was lower than than their usual rate. The first night I was there I was standing at the front desk and they recieved a call from someone else confirming their reservation and they had no record of it. I do not know if this is a problem with this location or the national reservation number. Staff was courteous but possibly incompetent. The room was described as large when the reservation was made but was average in size at best. The indoor pool was supposed to be heated but was quite cold. The hot tub warm but not hot. The place was clean in general and the beds comfortable. This place seems to rely on business from its location. Six flags and The Naval academy are both about 5 miles away. The naval academy business is from parents of graduating sailors. I am sure they know they do not have to worry about repeat business due to this clientel.

It was ok
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/26/06
The rooms were nice, the whole place was nice. Your rooms were basically always cleaned, nothing was messed with. The only problem we had was our shower/tub felt like it was caving in on the bottom. Otherwise everything else was pretty good.

Nightmare on 411 S. Greenbay St.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/22/05
This was by far the worst hotel stay that I've ever had. Upon arriving we were asked to pay for the hotel stay up front and after entering the room I see why. They were afraid that we were going to ask for our money back. When we entered the room, the floor was dirty with crumbs of food all over the place. It clearly had not been vacuumed. When we pulled back the comforter on the bed, it had stains on the comforter. It was just plain nasty. After I complained, the manager or owner sent someone to vacuum and get us fresh linen, but it's just the fact that it shouldn't have been that way waiting for new guest to arrive. The deluxe continential breakfast was nothing of the sort. I could go on and on, but I will just say that I will never stay at another Best Western for as long as I live.

Not too bad for a cheap hotel....
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/23/05
This hotel is NOT new, but it's not a bad hotel for the price. Breakfast is ok...donuts, toast, cold ceral, coffee and juice....Cappuccino will cost you $0.25. Service was average. Our room was ok, the pull out couch was stuck halfway in/halfway out, but we didn't need it anyway. It was clean and the bed was just fine. Free internet....not wireless. Only about 10 minutes to Six Flags and Gurnee Mills.

Hot bed motel?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/14/05
We have just experienced a situation so bizarre and unpleasant that I cannot believe Best Western Libertyville will survive much longer. We had friends coming in from 450 miles away on late Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, so we telephoned a guaranteed reservation the preceding Monday, complete with credit card info they requested. Im,agine our surprise when our friends called Friday evening in a panic, informing us that Best Western refused them a room, because we were not there to sign them in! Fortunately, we were able to driver over to straighten this out (we thought!). The overweight desk clerk, complete with numerous ear piercings and an unbelievably foul mouth, proceeded to scream at us, calling us stupid, etc. It was an absolute nightmare, and needless to say--as a Realtor who arranges many such stays--that this horrible experience will be a decisive factor in all future hotel/motel accommodations, and will be passed along to my fellow industry members!!! My personal opinion is that this place is currently being utilized on less than a full night basis.
