Silver Cloud Inn University, Seattle

I feel a warning is in order. We made reservations for 2 days. A Friday and Saturday night. The hotel staff recited the reservation back and said they would send email confirmation. I had already called so this was our second call...they knew who we were and when we were coming and yet they made the reservations for Thursday/Friday and never sent our confirmation until Thursday night (after it was too late..and they had charged us!) We talked and talked with a manager who would not listen and eventually had to bring in the better business bureau in to refund our money for the date they say we were "no show". Then they charged us premium prices for a small grungy room that had stains on the carpets and was basically disappointing. We stay in quite a few hotels... Silver Cloud is the first on our "Do Not Call " list.

We were in town for a family reunion and picked this hotel because of its proximity to the reunion functions. We loved the King Suite with its separate bedroom and the space-saving flat screen TV on the wall in the living area. Kitchen had dishes and silverware, microwave and refrigerator. Sofa hide-a-bed was pretty uncomfortable, so we don't recommend using it. We didn't need to bring our laptop because they have two just off the lobby for guests to use. Laundry facilities were a nice bonus! Breakfast was wonderful ... waffles and the BEST muffins in addition to the usual fare. The staff was VERY pleasant and helpful from the front desk to the breakfast servers and the people who cleaned up after us. Only downside of this experience (besides the hide-a-bed) was the crazy streets around the area ... bring your GPS if you're driving and not familiar with the area!

The staff was pleasant. The breakfast was nice. The room was clean and comfortable. The location was close to the college. It was definitely a pleasant experience.

We often stay at the University Silver Cloud because of the location. However, we consider it vastly overpriced considering it's plain interior, dirty rugs, stingy supply of towels and supplies. Must be the classic case of location being everything. We are actively looking for alternative lodging which provides amenties commensurate with the price.
