GOING BACK IN OCTOBER 05
By ,
I LOVED THE 1 NIGHT THAT I SPENT HARE AND DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE. WE DIDN'T SEE MUCH OF THE CITY AS WE DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE THE HOTEL THIS IS WHY WE ARE PLANNING TO SPEND 3 NIGHTS THERE IN OCTOBER. IT IS WELL WORTH UPGRADING TO THE CLUB LONGE AND ROOMS AS THE VIEWS ARE AMAZING. NOTHING IS TOO MUCH TROUBLE THE VIRTIGO RESTAURANT IS A MUST AND THE MOON BAR IS SO ROMANTIC ON A CLEAR EVENING WHEN YOU CAN SEE OVER THE WHOLE CITY

We expected much more
By ,
The BKK Banyan Tree hotel is definetely not a 5 star one. Even if the rooms are comfortable and quiet, the spa is just a "massage parlour" with dirty slippers and not too courteous attendants. The main entrance hall smells of food at every hour of the day , is dark and gives a feeling of entering in a cave. The swimming pool is badly oriented and there is no sunshine directly on it therefore the water is icy cold.

GREAT PLACE
By ,
We stayed here nov.06 and stayed in many other up-scale resorts and hotels and Ill have to admitt this place is about hospitality and service.Get a suite but save your money theirs no need to up grade, they have a floor with free drinks and snacks in a up grade package and I didnt think its worth the upgrade. But other than that this is first class, we stayed at peninsula before and Ill say their room renters not about personal needs and service such as the banayan tree bkk was.We will return..plz before travle to Bkk see your local doctor due to pollution and other factors...He will prescribe meds to combat this problem and buy no means dont drink water other than from a sealed bottle this includes Ice.If you dont enjoy Heat..pollution..traffic jams stay home..

Top rate hotel
By ,
Perhaps the best rooms in this class in my opinion. The spa it top notch. The roof top restaurant a romantic dream. About the only down fall is the location is a hike from the skytrain.

A nice city hotel for the Banyan Tree group
By ,
This is the only Banyan Tree property located inside a major city, and therefore is more like a business hotel rather than a resort. The rooms are very nicely done, and of course there is the signature Banyan Tree Spa that so many of us love. The rooftop bar/restaurant has great views of the city, although one goes more for the view than for the food.

big disappointment - avoid total rip off
By ,
We booked a club floor and were travelling with two kids. 1. on the website they have mentioned that they have Kids club but when we checked we were informed that this is only open on weekend - no mention of this on the website 2. we wanted to go to club lounge - again we were politely told that this is closed and we can get 'free drinks' at lobby. again no mention on the website that club lounge is closed. 3. we wanted to speak with some one like manager but seems they are not in the hotel the wholeday, all manager, assistant manager are busy and away and the poor front desk staff was almost in tears as she could not help us. the hotel has some expat german manager who does not seem to be in duty to attend to the hotel guest but must be enjoying his own private vacation in bangkok. 4. Swimming pool - the worst for a 5 star hotel. a good class individual villa pool will be bigger than the pool at Banyan tree. smaller than half the tennis court. 5. spa - over prices and sauna and steam bath - equivalent to japanese hotel bathroom size I really cannot understand how Banyan tree has associated its brand name with this property and we really booked this hotel because we believed in Banyan tree brand quality. 6. TV channel - no cartoon network can you believe this? how can we stay with kids with no cartoon, no kids play zone, no kids entertainment - it was total rip off. I will not recommend anyone with kid to ever book in this hotel

Pricey, but well worth it
By ,
While not as exquisite as other Banyan Trees in resort locales, the Banyan Tree Bangkok is nonetheless a great choice. Staying at the Banyan Tree Club level not only gives you a decent size suite with great amenities, but will also score you access to the Club Lounge with free drinks, as well as breakfast at the more exclusive Saffron on the 52nd floor with great views - think of it as the indoor version of the famed Vertigo restaurant on the rooftop. The Banyan Tree Spa needs no further introduction. The only downside is that the location is quite a walk away from MRT's Lumphini station and is not reachable from BTS - if you factor in the Bangkok sun - so the only feasible mode of transport is car / taxi, and if you know anything about traffic jams in Bangkok, car / taxi often times is not a desirable mode of transport.

Attention and Quality Beyond All Expectations
By ,
This is one of the two hotels I use as a yard-stick to measure all other hotels. I booked at the Banyan Tree Bangkok well aware of the reputation for Banyan Tree properties, and was delighted beyond my wildest expectations. The rooms are huge (especially on the club floor where layouts include two or three rooms and a huge bathroom) and beautifully decorated. Sheets are astounding and the sumptuous bathrooms make it difficult to want to do anything other than luxuriate in the "daily spa menu treatments" brought to your room. Food was alright (not outstanding) but the settings of the breakfast room high up on one of the top floors afforded spectacular views. The rooftop bar, Vertigo, is a must. I enjoyed a drink there my first night upon arrival and was amazed. The best ammenity is the "personal shopper/ambasador." This free service is offered by hotel staff who would like to improve their English while helping you navigate the ins and outs of markets and custom tailors. Our shopping docent spent his entire day off with us and was a total joy.
