Denali Dome Home B&B, Healy

Our room was in the basement and the owners never mentioned about this before. We requested a room change and got the other extreme. This room has a sky light 3 feet above the bed (impossible to sleep when there is 22 hours of daylight); No air conditioning; Shower that stops when someone is showering below in other rooms; Inadequately furnished, no night stands; Ceiling so low that my head bumped few time; Toilet right behind the bed with an opening in the wall, need a say more? This place is a total scam, beware! Wonder how they got AAA 3 diamond rating?

The Dome Home was a really enjoyable place to stay. Terry and Ann were wonderful and helpful hosts. Our room(s) were comfortable and clean. There were really nice books on our beds to enjoy each day. We arrived a bit late on our start day and left for our Denali tour VERY early the next morning. We were shown where to have our morning meal and coffee was on the timer for us. They gave us great advice on the park activities and we had a great time. When we didn't have to leave as early, we enjoyed a nice meal, cooked to order (just like Dad used to make) and the company of the other guests, who shared their plans and the excitement of their tours in the park. Keep your eyes out for wildlife, we saw moose right out the door!

The Dome Home owners were wonderful in helping us out of jam when we arrived in Healy with no transportation or a place to stay due to the torrential rain that closed the road and the railroad to Denali National Park. Ann fed us, called our lodge in the park, drove us into town and even did our laundry. Our room was huge, 3 beds, private bath with sauna and shower, lots of great movies for the gigantic tv in the room and a fridge for our leftovers! The breakfast was delicious and quite ample and the homemade cookies were the icing on the cake after a harrowing adventure to get there. Linda Stremmel
