Pullman Reef Hotel Casino, Cairns

I picked the hotel based on the prior reviews and am happy to say that they were correct. The bed is wonderful as are the rest of the accomodations. Good location to the harbour and restaurants. The casino is on the opposite side and is nothing like the hotel/casinos in the states. You can avoid the casino entirely (if you choose). We were too busy to check out the pool or the wildlife dome. The fruit bats that fly over every night at dusk are creepy!!!

We stayed at the Sofitel for 9 nights and could not complain about anything - excellent standard of service and comfort. Rooms were EXCEPTIONAL. We enjoyed a meal at Tamarind restaurant. Breakfast was great. Staff were very helpful and pleasant and the position was convenient to everything. We will be returning to this Hotel - hopefully in the near future

As mentioned in the title, superb accomodation. Casino is good for a few reasons, they still manually shuffle cards and the dealers are polite. Don't have too good a time though or else you will be told you have had too much to drink and will be escorted to your room by a number of cronies, not for the party animals. Great views from pool deck and floor 7 Enjoy

CAIRNS IS HOT IN JANUARY!! NEXT TIME WE'LL GO IN JUNE-JULY-AUGUST, THEIR WINTER. HOTEL WAS SUPERB, GREAT BATHROOM. FOOD WAS SO-SO. BUFFET OK. NICE SNACK BAR IN CONNECTING CASINO, FOUND OUT THEY DON'T KNOW HOT-DOGS IN AUSTRALIA. THEIR HOT DOG IS SOME KIND OF SAUSAGE IN A ROLL, WHEN YOU ORDER THEY PUT WHOLE THING, INCLUDING ROLL, IN MICROWAVE, I NEVER HAD THE COURAGE. LOCATION GREAT, VIEW WAS PROBABLY GREAT, THE OPERATIVE WORD IS WAS-THEY ARE BUILDING A BIG CONDO ACROSS THE STREET, OBLITERATING SEA VIEWS. SHAME ON CAIRNS FOR ALLOWING THAT!! NICE JOB SOFITEL!!
