Poorly managed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/14/11
So I went for my birthday weekend to celebrate in one of my favorite towns, Palm Springs. My girlfriend got the room for cheap and it looked and sounded amazing. When we first arrived it was a shocker in how exculsive it felt. At first the staff seems very nice and polite. Grounds are nice, but rooms are small. The next morning we wanted to sit by the pool and have a few drinks. So we had our cooler with a few drinks and walked around to the different pools to see which one had the best vibe. While walking past their "lemonade stand" a rude staff member questioned if we were actually guest. Mind you we were the only hispanic people at the place that wasn't working there. We were thrown off by the question and the assumption that she had about us. We walked away and went to another pool. Later we were approached about having outside drinks and that we are only allowed to have drinks that were bought there at the hotel. As we looked around others had their own personal drinks and food that were not bought there. Then they wanted to cause a scene and have the manager come over. She only questioned us and no one else. So it all comes down to the fact that the staff is rude to you if your not white or from a European country. They also don't check room keys when you eat at their resturants so watch out they might charge something to your room and you won't know till you check out. Overall, poorly managed, rude staff, and racist. Don't stay there, save your money.

3 thumbs down
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/11/11
Dump. Moldy and musty. What can I say? The hay-day was there at some point but it now looks like a Motel-6. A Starwood? Are you kidding? Clean the place up and rebadge it something else. The grounds have tremendous potential but don't stay in a standard room. How many ways can you spell tacky?

Believe the bad reviews
By John Charles, 10/19/09
I drove up and knew there was trouble. The outside was guady, and the inside was worse. Our reservation had been mishandled, and the attempt to fix it left us with the option of staying in a "suite" right next to the front desk and bar for the price of 3 rooms. The front desk and managerial staff were condescending and not at all helpful. We walked out and stayed at a Marriott (and had a fabulous time). Stay away, especially if you have kids!!!

Great Anniversary!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/4/09
First of all, we went to Le Parker for our anniversary and it was fabulous. The service was impeccable and we loved the grounds. We stayed Friday and Saturday. You should know though that on Saturday, the hotel was much more busy and the service was not as top notch as it was the day before. I would recommend Le Parker in a heard beat but only during the week, not Saturday or Sunday. Norma's is great for breakfast, pricy but worth it. For other meals, go out to Downtown. You'll have a great food at a much lower price.

Definitely going back
By Karen B, 2/3/09
Full disclosure: just sent this same review to another site. I've never written a travel review before, but after reading the negative reviews I had to share our opinion. The place we had a reservation in was overbooked and we got bounced with only one day's warning--very disappointing. Did some research, really wanted something special, romantic and adult in Palm Springs. Read several poor reviews about the Parker Meridian, but decided to chance it anyway. Initial impression wasn't great, we were wary when we saw the lobby. It is a bit tacky, the faux fur covering on some white chairs were dingy, and one of the couches was covered by a throw that could have been found in a college dorm. BUT. We mentioned our concerns about the negative reviews during check-in, and they were taken very seriously. Without asking, we were immediately upgraded to a suite by the pool. The room was wonderful. The grounds seem a bit maze-like at first, but are serene and private. Each member of the staff from the valet, to the housekeepers, to the front desk and restaurant crew could not have been genuinely nicer or more service oriented. Everywhere we went, we were greeted warmly and our needs immediately attended to. I must mention the superb amenities/toiletries in the guest rooms. We were amazed at the generously sized bottles of high quality shampoo, two types of soap, sunscreen, and lip balm that were provided for no extra charge. I was in heaven after discovering the Bulgari skin lotion. Don't expect your usual hotel, this place grows on you. The longer we were there, the more secret spots and unexpected details we discovered. The lobby areas that seemed a bit tawdry by daylight were lovely in the evening. They do need to spruce it up though. My only disappointment was the spa massage. I'm very picky and asked for someone w/strong hands for a deep tissue massage and I got one, but she was a real masher! Ouch! Not the experience I was looking for, and it was expensive. Oh, yes the TVs need upgrading, but who goes there to watch TV? We are definitely returning, and soon.

Keep Your Expectations Low
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/08
We chose this hotel for our wedding/honeymoon. We thought there would be a spot on the 13 acres of gardens to hold our small (5 person) and brief (10 minute) ceremony; we found out they would charge us a $1500-$2000 facility fee. The manager would not return our calls and the catering manager was surly and inhospitable. The crowd was loud and mostly Hollywood want-to-be's, sort of all around a terrible experience. We did our service and dinner at the Viceroy, where the staff/food/experience was perfect. Save your money and stay there!

Phenomenal hotel made for a great weekend getaway!!!
By Catherine Keller, 3/4/08
I stayed at this hotel last weekend with my boyfriend, and we both thought it was phenomenal! The resort is beautiful and meticulous - every last detail is well thought out. The design is very chic and the crowd is as well. Our first room was very spacious with a beautiful view of the pool. Unfortunately, there was a bachelorette party below us that was a bit loud. The staff easily accomodated our request to move rooms for our second night. The second room was smaller, but had a great garden balcony. The staff were all very friendly and extremely helpful. We enjoyed a day at the pool and also did some hiking at the Indian Canyons - don't miss that! I did not have a spa treatment but did enjoy a complementary yoga class on Saturday morning - it was great. We also loved the food. We ate brunch at Norma's both days -- don't miss it! Mister Parker's is great too, but I think it was a bit overpriced ($300 for two). Overall, this was a fantastic (though expensive) hotel that I highly recommend and hope to visit again!!!

A nightmare -- stay away!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/25/07
If you want good service, polite and helpful staff, or a good value, stay anywhere but the Parker Palm Springs. We actually walked out of the hotel after being mistreated by these people, and found a far better resort at a better price.

Blunder hotel ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/20/07
Rooms are very cheap. Its not worth it for the price. Drinks and food are not appealing and the presentations of them needs a lot of improvement. If you have lotta money and dont know whatelse to do with it, then only you would stay at the Parker. Its not worth it to think about staying at the Parker.

Never Again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/26/07
The kitschy, retro aesthetic is so heavy-handed that it becomes tiresome quickly. Service (particularly in the restaurant) was abominable -- incredibly rude staff, doing their jobs very, very slowly and poorly. The first room my wife and I stayed in was filled with noxious carpet glue fumes. The hotel sent an engineer after repeated calls to the front desk over a half hour or more. He almost fainted himself when he walked in. We were moved, ever-so-slowly to a second room. No apologies whatsoever. At this price-point, I expect luxury over kitschiness. They should have spent more time and money on training staff than coming up with clever puns for the menu. The few pros: Pretty good food (when it finally arrives), good location, fairly nice landscaping. Not enough to redeem the place for me. I'd never stay here again.
