Oh my! did I really stay here!!! So over priced!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/23/11
My wife and I along with our son booked into a two bedroom ocean facing suite and paid $699 a night. For that amount of money I would expect a little more. There was no bottled water in the room or even a mini bar which you get in a lesser priced hotel. The rooms were large but a bit on the dilapidated side. We stayed for two nights and our bathroom toiletries were not replenished. The view was ok, if looking at cruise ships is your thing. The ocean view was just behind the big thing. The only good thing about the room was the Westin Heavenly Bed, that was very comfortable. Bottom line is this Hotel is well overpriced for what it is, stay somewhere else.

Bad experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/17/11
Could not use my internet. They gave us a room beside the laundry with no view whatsoever. The bath tub is slippery and i nearly fell. The front dest personnel were not concerned or apologetic when I voiced my concerns. I suppose $393.00 means nothing to them!

Over Priced and not worth the Money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/3/09
We arrived at the hotel around 6:00 in the evening and our room was still not cleaned. Even though they let us check in the room was dirty. There was paint chipping off the walls and the balcony was small with a very little partial view. The air conditioner was on the balcany which made it extremly HOTTER than it needed to be sitting out there with the 90 weather. Breakfast in the morning was very good but VERY over priced even when expecting to pay hotel rates. The room was large but average, I expect more when I am paying over 300.00 a night. I travel alot and this hotle is average not worth the money you pay when your there.

Clean, but not a great view
By DENISE, 4/26/09
I have stayed at the other resorts on the gulf near Mallory Square and Duvall. Decided to check out the Westin. Booked a deluxe Ocean view..what a view...a deluxe view of an Ocea Cruise ship is more like it..they never tell you that the cruise ships are docked right in front of your window every day and you don't get to see the ocean view you paid for until sunset. The cruise ships made announcements and blew their horns at all times. They get in early, so if you wanted to sleep in...forget it. I complained and gee, they knocked off a whole $30.00 from my 6 night visit..they didn't offer any apology and the desk clerk started laughing when I complained. Then, when another cruise ship came in, you couldn't walk down the waterfront to the Ocean Key House or other bars because the cruise ship lines took up the sidwalk. Also, at night they let young children sit by the cocktail bar...please, who wants to hear little kids screaming and whining when on vacation. Key West is not a kiddie town...I was very disappointed in the Westin and will never go back. The Pier House and the Hyatt are alot nicer.

Key West Getaway
By SunshineFL, 6/6/07
The Westin was recently purchased by a new owner and the level of service has been amped up as well. We spent nine days at the hotel and can't complain about anything at all! The front desk was helpful with the one problem we did encounter, fixed it and even sent champagne and strawberries to our room for the inconvenience. Don't waste your money on an ocean view, get a pool or garden view and go out to Mallory Square and enjoy the sunset with the crowd! We only ate at the hotel once and that was for breakfast...you are within walking distance of some of the best restaurants in south Florida, why would you stay and eat at the hotel? The daily parking fee is a given at any large resort in Key West seeing as to parking is at a premium outside of garages. To us $12.00 a day was a small price to pay to assure our car was safe and in shade! Utilize the concierge for booking activities...they can get you some of the best times/prices available. Great pool area with food/bar service from 11am to 5pm daily...and don't forget to hit the Sunset Deck bar for great drinks during the sunset celebration. The rooms are large, decorated in a great tropical theme and relatively sound proof...a bonus in itself at any large resort. If your looking for someplace to unwind and relax when not out and about in Key West, then staying at the Westin is a must.

You Call This An Ocean Front Room???
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/20/07
Our "Ocean Front" room did not actually even face the ocean, but the marina instead. And rather than even see the marina, what we did see every day was a large private yacht directly across from our balcony. ok, if we looked way off to the side, the ocean would have been visible, however, every single morning a giant cruise ship arrived and almost parked right in our room, loud announcements and all. Whatever view we might have had of the ocean was completely obliterated by the daily parade of cruise ships. Even dining outside at the restaurant facing the ocean our view was completely blocked by not one, but two cruise ships docked one next to the other. Westin's solution was to knock $50. off our room rate each night which would have been the price of a "garden" view room. At $279. a night this was definately NOT worth it! The lesson learned is to ALWAYS ask when you are booking an "Ocean Front" room is whether you will really be getting a room that actually faces the ocean. Either that, or find out what the cruise ship/private yacht schedule is before booking a room at the Westin Key West, and then plan your expectations accordingly!

Dooped
By Chris, 12/30/06
Funny when you book and room and told that your balcony has the best view of the sunset, they forget to tell you that a cruise ship will be blocking it!!! There are literally thousands of people coming off those ships and the pool IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, that's right, pay $279 a night and share the pool with the cruise folks. For the over priced cost, you would actually expect good service, when in fact it is EXTREMELY poor!!! I was stuck, normally stay in a mom and pop, I will never go back to this place.
