Just OK
We visited 5/05 & returned 9/05.
Approximately 3 weeks prior to check in, I called the hotel & requested a quiet room. Within 5 minutes of entering our room, we realized we must have been placed in the "children's" section, there was yelling, screaming, running around, jumping...I immediately called the front desk asking to be moved. The front desk person could actually hear the noise as if it were coming from my room. I was told by the young lady that the hotel was booked but she would see what she could do. 5 minutes later, she called back & moved us to a much quieter room in the new building on the 7th floor.
Because we were in the new building, we quickly realized that the DVD player wasn't set up correctly or did not work at all. This was an inconvenience since we purchased DVD's to watch.
Another problem was that our screened in balcony wasn't completely screened in. This would pose to be a hazard even if the room was on the 2nd floor, we were on the 7th. We personally made the front desk staff aware of this. From their response, we thought this would be treated as a priority. We were told they would send someone right over to fix it...we stayed 1 week, no one ever came. Because we initially didn't realize the balcony was lacking a screen in one of the partitions, we had both doors open so bugs came into the room.
When we stayed there in May 2005, we had a problem receiving towels when we requested them. We made one request 3 times and 3 days later, received 3 different sets of towels. To avoid this problem on our recent stay, (especially since our missing screen hadn't been addressed as we were told it would be) I noticed the housekeeping door was open. I picked up a stack of towels and proceeded on my way to my room. A maid from a lower level witnessed this & scolded me from her level, telling me that I am not "allowed" to do this, I need to call housekeeping. I asked her if she can come up to my level and bring them to my room or if we had to wait a long period of time. She told me to take them this time, call housekeeping next time.
Another annoyance was the fact that we received daily morning calls from the Hilton computer, giving us an overview of the day's occurrences. One day, we received 2 morning calls asking that we move our car since they were repaving the parking area in which we were parked. We didn't realize this until a little later in the day because we didn't answer the phone since we were "sleeping" and figured it was the daily computer message gone wrong plus we weren't expecting calls from anyone else.
The place is absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves despite the minor inconveniences. Based on what we pay as owners if inconveniences occur, they should quickly be addressed. We are home owners and this experience reminded us of a "renting" experience, not a vacation at a Hilton resort.
