THIS is a Marriott propert?

The first room I was assigned had somebody already in it (he was as surprised as I was when I walked in). When I finally convinced the women at the desk that it WAS occupied (she went down to check for herself - apparently I couldnt be trusted) she gave me a room that absolutely stunk from cigarette smoke. The sign on the door said smoking but, again, the clerks didnt believe me and kept insisting that it was a non smoking room. I finally when down and snapped a picture with my phone to show them. Finally, I had a room and boy, what a room. Now I have seen ugly, mismatched, outdated and poorly decorated rooms before but usually they are in run down motor hotels in the middle of North Dakota. This was the worst Marriott chain room I've ever seen and, by the sounds of it, the whole hotel is the same. This room would not have looked good in the 70's much less today. I am very faithful to Marriott when selecting hotels and put in over 50 nights a year but this was the worst I've seen and I won't be back. Tonight, I am in the Hampton Inn down the street. Its very nice and the bedspread is not older than I am.
