greg & gloria's 20th wedding anniversary
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/18/07
the staff made us feel very special with thier great personal service. we were there for two nights, to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and the privacy was perfect. staff service, cleanliness, views of the bay from 2nd floor was nice. we highly reccommend this cozy spot on the bay. Enjoying wonderful food at Spinnakers was only walking distance away, along with all the close by shopping. the only dislike was there seems to be no winter rates like many other places near by or internet specials.

An honest and detailed review
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/14/07
I stayed in a queen deluxe room which was $315 per night + taxes. I am an engineer and president of a small consulting company, 59 years old, travel a great deal, and stay in everything from Ritz Carlton's to Hampton Inn's, to provide the reader of this review with perspective. First, the room was extremely clean. Second, while not overly large in space, because the wall facing the water is all glass doors which open onto a private deck, the use of space is really very, very good and is more than adequate. I really liked the way the space was laid out relative to the bed, so that you could lie in bed and look out at San Francisco Bay, while the gas fireplace was on and reflected the fire in the mirror on the wall. Frankly, in my opinion, although the price is a little steep, this would be my idea of the absolutely perfect romantic getaway place. The bathroom is large and well arranged. There are a few things I could complain about, but they would not overshadow the positive experience. Breakfast is not setout until 7am in the morning, so if you want to take the first ferry at 7:10am to San Franciso, this does not work. They should start this at 6:15am and be more considerate of folks who need to take the ferry. I also did not like the fact that you could not lie in bed and watch TV and had to sit in a chair to do so. Lastly, I did not like the fact that to take a shower in their tub, the drain that stands up hits your feet when under the shower spray. From a bedding standpoint, they use McCroskey mattresses, containing a gentle mattress on an extra firm box spring. McCroskey is well known for their mattresses, but I found the gentle one a bit too soft for my taste, but that is personal preference. Overall, the look and feel in the room is very positive, and I think anyone who had the room I did would be more than happy with it. The people at the desk both checking in and out were very friendly and helpful to me when I asked questions. I did not experience any attitude of any kind. Linens, towels, and toileries were all top of the line. There is a really top notch stereo system in the room. I would definitely stay there again, and would recommend the place without hesitation.

This place is AWFUL
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/27/06
The rooms look NOTHING like they do on the Inn's website. My room was incredibly small, shabby and need of serious updating. The carpet was dirty, the linens were tired and worn, and the bathroom was small and tacky. Not worth the expensive price. I left very dissapointed.

The best
By NannyB, 10/01/05
We love this place. Convenient to everything from the wine country to SF. Its a two minute walk to the ferry but absolutely quiet. The rooms are lush, beautfiully decorated. Every time we go to the Bay Area, we make it a point to stay here.

What a view!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/22/05
We spent 2 nights at Inn Above Tide on two separate occasions and can't wait to go back. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The bed is comfortable and the room is big. We were fortunate to be in Sausalito when there was little to no fog so our view from the balcony was breathtaking. The city lights in the evening, the kayakers in the morning. We will definitely be back.

We stayed there for one night, the view was great, the service excellent and the rooms were very nice, but a bit small.

Most beautiful view and friendly staff!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/04/05
The hotel was wonderful! The view was the best... Our room was 4 feet above the water, 30 yards from the ferry landing. The staff was attentive and friendly. Best ever!

Fantastic!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/12/04
The Inn Above Tide is the best hotel in the Bay Area. Try finding a place with views and atmosphere even half as wonderful as this Inn.
