Great Beach, great for kids, okay for adults....
POSITIVES:
* Outstanding beaches - relatively unspoilt, spacious, and if you scuba dive, you won't be disappointed! Pure white sand, no rocks, or garbage. Truly pristine!
* Diving - the diving operation was very safety conscious (compared to other places I've dived in). My dive leader was competent and the boats were well kept. They could have done with some refreshments for the dives, but overall one of the better dive operators! Was disorganized sometimes (turning up at 8:15 for a dive sometimes meant a 9:15 departure from the dock!)
* Kids - the activities for children were outstanding. My little one loved Elmo, and dancing every night during the stage shows. It felt like a really safe place to let our kids run around and be safe in the knowledge that nothing bad would happen to them. The table tennis equipment was falling apart, and I had to ask for a new ball when the staff member was just sitting there staring into space (surely they could at least make sure that everything was working!)
* Spa - One of the better spas that I've been to. Apart from a bit of disrepair in one of the showers, it was a 5/5 experience! The gym was also nicely appointed and had some good equipment in it.
* Adult Restaurants - Excellent food, excellent staff. A shame it was so hard to get a table, and that they wouldn't open it up the outside tables.
* Overall - a very clean resort. Pools were always clean and uncrowded. Some staff were attentive and some were on another planet. If you can get used to having to ask for something 2 or 3 times (drinks in the restaurant), you'll be fine!
NEGATIVES
* Food - My biggest gripe during our stay here: the quality of the food ranged from apalling (Bobby Dees burgers tasted like cat meat (yuck!)) to poor (the buffets), to average (Arizonas ribs were great), to above average (Adult restaurants). I was disappointed when I walked in the adult restaurant and asked for a glass of champagne, but it wasn't one of the Moets on display in the fridge at the front, but some poor distant cousin! One restaurant didn't have any Merlot! Of any description... It was touting itself as a 5 star dining experience! LOL
* Daycare - whilst the daycare was the best facility I've seen in terms of equipment, security (they give you a restaurant type buzzer when you put your child in - in case of emergency), and staff to child ratio (3/4:1), I was sorely disappointed as to how much attention the staff actually paid to the children in their care. To say lacklustre interest would be an overstatement. In the end I only had my youngest (2) in there for about 2 hrs a day for 3 days after I observed this behavior. My wife watched in horror as a child fell from the top of a slide (5 feet) while 3 staff were doing something else and not watching the kids in their care. Be wary when using the daycare. Older kids seemed to enjoy it.
* Restaurants - a 1 hour wait to be seated (Arizonas), mayhem when it rained one night and people decided to eat at about the same time, Bobby Dees needed a bit more attention paid to keeping it clean, Schooners (our friends who stayed at this resort recommended it, but it was closed last week!!!).
* Towels - If you decided to go for a swim after 3 pm, then you had either better a) raid a towel from your previously stashed stack (we would stockpile a few in the mornings in our room, so we could swim in the afternoons and get dry afterwards), or b) be prepared to walk the entire resort looking for a towel hut that had towels available!
