Great Beach, great for kids, okay for adults....
By Tracey & JC, 11/27/06
POSITIVES: * Outstanding beaches - relatively unspoilt, spacious, and if you scuba dive, you won't be disappointed! Pure white sand, no rocks, or garbage. Truly pristine! * Diving - the diving operation was very safety conscious (compared to other places I've dived in). My dive leader was competent and the boats were well kept. They could have done with some refreshments for the dives, but overall one of the better dive operators! Was disorganized sometimes (turning up at 8:15 for a dive sometimes meant a 9:15 departure from the dock!) * Kids - the activities for children were outstanding. My little one loved Elmo, and dancing every night during the stage shows. It felt like a really safe place to let our kids run around and be safe in the knowledge that nothing bad would happen to them. The table tennis equipment was falling apart, and I had to ask for a new ball when the staff member was just sitting there staring into space (surely they could at least make sure that everything was working!) * Spa - One of the better spas that I've been to. Apart from a bit of disrepair in one of the showers, it was a 5/5 experience! The gym was also nicely appointed and had some good equipment in it. * Adult Restaurants - Excellent food, excellent staff. A shame it was so hard to get a table, and that they wouldn't open it up the outside tables. * Overall - a very clean resort. Pools were always clean and uncrowded. Some staff were attentive and some were on another planet. If you can get used to having to ask for something 2 or 3 times (drinks in the restaurant), you'll be fine! NEGATIVES * Food - My biggest gripe during our stay here: the quality of the food ranged from apalling (Bobby Dees burgers tasted like cat meat (yuck!)) to poor (the buffets), to average (Arizonas ribs were great), to above average (Adult restaurants). I was disappointed when I walked in the adult restaurant and asked for a glass of champagne, but it wasn't one of the Moets on display in the fridge at the front, but some poor distant cousin! One restaurant didn't have any Merlot! Of any description... It was touting itself as a 5 star dining experience! LOL * Daycare - whilst the daycare was the best facility I've seen in terms of equipment, security (they give you a restaurant type buzzer when you put your child in - in case of emergency), and staff to child ratio (3/4:1), I was sorely disappointed as to how much attention the staff actually paid to the children in their care. To say lacklustre interest would be an overstatement. In the end I only had my youngest (2) in there for about 2 hrs a day for 3 days after I observed this behavior. My wife watched in horror as a child fell from the top of a slide (5 feet) while 3 staff were doing something else and not watching the kids in their care. Be wary when using the daycare. Older kids seemed to enjoy it. * Restaurants - a 1 hour wait to be seated (Arizonas), mayhem when it rained one night and people decided to eat at about the same time, Bobby Dees needed a bit more attention paid to keeping it clean, Schooners (our friends who stayed at this resort recommended it, but it was closed last week!!!). * Towels - If you decided to go for a swim after 3 pm, then you had either better a) raid a towel from your previously stashed stack (we would stockpile a few in the mornings in our room, so we could swim in the afternoons and get dry afterwards), or b) be prepared to walk the entire resort looking for a towel hut that had towels available!

Some People Must Have Gone Somewhere Else
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/06
Wow. I booked our trip (Myself, wife, our 2 kids and our in-laws) and then read the reviews. I had these horrible visions of what have I done. We get there and as we pull in the front gate all of those BAD reviews start to drift away. The place was great. The orginazation, the satff, the service, the snorkeling, the Sesame Street Characters, the pools, the bars, the alcohol, the facilities, the BEACH, the food (many choices) everything was top notch. Heck even the trips to and from the airport were a kick (white knuckled E-ticket on the wrong side of the road, my 4 year old LOVED it). All I can say about the so-so or negative reviews is that the people who wrote them must have stayed at a different resort than Beaches Turks & Caicos.

Awesome
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/24/06
If You want a family vacation where you do not want to worry about time this is the place to go.Upon arrival at Beaches resort you are greeted with a cold towel and a cold drink. The beach was beautiful the pools were very clean and there was always pleanty to do for the kids. The food was excellent, when dining out go to Arizonas and have the Ribs or Steak.Have dinner at Schooners be sure to have the king crab legs.We stayed in the Caicos premium room and the only complaint was ths sofa bed it was a little uncomfortable. The service staff were all very friendly and always had a hello or a good morning. This was a little slice of heaven only 2hrs 50 minutes from New York.

ATTABOY
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/06
LOVED IT Fantastic Family Vacation Great Food and Service, Nice beach - Kids loved it as well, we got to spend time and not worry about the kids. Helpful. Great Sun Beautiful. This would cost an ARM a LEG (and some more)at a similar property where I would have to pay separately for each aspect of our stay. Fantastic Value. After trying other all i nclusives, you KNOW why Sandals fammily of hotels is #1. That is all I have to say for the Critics!

Horrible Resort
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/2/06
Everything was a disappointment. Moldy bathrooms, debis and spiders on floor of room, No towels available at pool, cloudy water in pools along with numerous plastic cusand straws, Disguisting food, they ran out of ice cream at 8:44pm on a Sunday night. broken high chair straps, horrible service(and I was not expecting the ritz!). Save the time, money, and aggrevation. What a waste!!!

Don't freak out too much
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/26/06
I was very worried about going to this resort because of some of the other reviews. The beach is wonderful, the pools are clean, the people are mostly friendly, and the restaurants are mediocre. Our suite was very clean. As long as you don't expect top shelf booze or excellent food, you'll have fun. The kids loved it!

Don't Worry, You'll Love It
By Stephen H, 6/25/06
I booked my trip to Beaches at Turks and Caicos, and decided to get the Presidential Suite as there was 6 of us (my wife and 4 children). After booking I read some of the reviews on this site and was terrified that I had made a dreadful mistake. I asked my friend who had recommended Beaches about all the negative things I had read, and he told me "Don't worry, you'll love it!" He was right. Our suite was wonderful, and though the suite was a bit pricey we had plenty of room with the kids bedroom on the opposite side of the suite, and it came with a nicely stocked snack tray and beverages (including full bottles of Chilean wine and Rum, Vodka, etc.) Oh, we did occassionally find an ant, cockroach, butterfly, or even a crab in our room (I think the crab was hiding in a conch shell we brought from the beach), but come on people this is an island, and the critters were rare and not a problem. The resort itself was impressive with plenty of pools that never felt crowded, a beautiful beach which again never felt crowded, and great areas for snorkeling and diving with boat transportation provided when necessary. There was also a nice board game room and Xbox center for the kids. My kids made friends with other kids at the resort and really enjoyed the premises and activities available. Despite some of the negative things posted about the food, I thought overall the food was excellent. The adult only restaurants were a nice plus, and the service and food quality was just below many expensive restaurants I have visited throughout the US. I personally found the staff at the resort very helpful and cheerful. Sure there was an occasional rude or grumpy staff person, but this was definitely the exception. We had personal butlers from 7AM - 11PM because of our suite, and they definitely made the vacation. If you can afford the butler upgrade (I think all suites have this service) definitely DO IT. These guys were very helpful and took care of everything, including getting us great places on the beach and pools, with towels, drinks, snorkeling equipment, etc all delivered prior to our arrival to the beach. They also provided nice snacks throughout the day, and there motto was "consider it done", and it always was. I know this was lengthy, but felt it important that some of the negative comments be addressed.

Trying to talk my husband into going back again this summer
By John, 6/9/06
This place was awesome. My husband, myself, my seven year old son, and two year old daughter went. We absolutely loved it. There was so much to do there. The staff was unbelievable. They went out of there way to accommodate us. The beach was beautiful the pools were always clean. We vacation alot and I would go back there over any other place we have been.(Including Disney World)! Now dont get me wrong there are no rides and only sesame street characters but you never have to wait in line for anything. The pools are never crowded. They have entertainment every night. You can eat and drink whenever you want and you never have to pull extra money out for anything. The food was excellent. Who cares if some restaurants are buffet style if the food is great. Some people just like to complain about everything. Thats why they write nasty reviews. If one thing doesn't go there way they will find fault in the whole vacation. I was just there two weeks ago and I am trying to talk my husband into going back THIS SUMMER. It was very relaxing and such a beautiful place. Of course leaving stinks who wants there vacation to end. But they definitely do there best to make leaving easier. Like a nice air conditioned departure lounge. They take care of all the luggage. Now dont get me wrong I would love to write a nasty review too. Only so everyone else doesnt find our little heaven on earth.

This place was great!
By Carrie Johnson, 5/15/06
After reading other people's reviews I must admit I was a more than a little concerned about our scheduled vacation. However, after just a few hours on the restort my concerns melted away in the beautiful sunshine of the islands. Yes, I could give you a SMALL list of things that were not perfect, but nothing nor anyone is perfect. Instead I will give you the reasons why my husband and I are planning another vaction to the Beaches Restort in the Turks and Caicos. First, the staff was great, we never met an unpleasant staff member. Second, our rooms were CLEAN, no matter what time of day it was when we came back to our room it was clean. Third, the scuba was awesome, the dive crew was excellent, I always felt safe and had a blast on our dives. Fourth, I ate and ate and ate and ate, the food was good (not great) but there was a lot of it and no matter what we asked for we got it. Finally, my kids had a wonderful time, they loved the beach, snorkling, the pools and the xbox room. All in all this was a fantastic vacation.
