Ramada Plaza New Yorker, New York

It's an old hotel but they are putting a lot of effort to keep it clean so everything is nice, painted, dusted, etc.. The room are descent in size. We had a 2 bed room and asked for an additional child bed and everything fit well. It is very well insulated from the outside noise which is great in NY. It has a little diner attached to the hotel where you can get a big breakfast or anything. In terms of location your are 15min away from the Empire state building, 25 min from Time square, 30/35 from Central Park, etc.. All walking distance. we rarely took the subway unless we had to go south Manhattan. I would definitely go back there and would recommend it to friends

This hotel was great. 3 people sharing a room with two huge beds, two bathrooms and a widescreen TV? not too shabby I think. The location was great with Madison Square garden literally outside your door and broadway a 15 minute walk away it's great. There's a cinema right around the corner, a reasonably priced diner downstairs and a mickeys and starbucks opposite. One of the best hotels I've stayed in :)

It was too small - cost at $330/nt and the room was a business single - one twin sized bed in a room smaller than my bachelor art bedroom. Maybe 10x10 if lucky including the bathroom. This was an unfortunate expense incurred by my company - I would not recommend.

The reception at this hotel has got to be the worst I have ever encountered. When we arrived our room was not ready. We stored our luggage and went for a walk. The receptionist called to let me know the room was ready and when we arrived back at the hotel she literally screamed at me because we weren't there right after she called. Then, when we were ready to check out I was notified of a long distance charge on the phone that I know we didn't make. I had to be firm with the manager of my intent of not paying for something I didn't use. Beware of false charges on you bill with this hotel!

Having just returned from a four day trip to the New Yorker Hotel with a group of 32 students and adults, we can't say enough about this hotel! Aurora was excellent when it came to setting up our group reservation -she even called before we came to let us know what would be going on with the renovations in the hotel during our visit. It was great to be working with someone who actually worked at the hotel and knew what was going on there. Our group all stayed in the renovated rooms which were very nicely redone, NYC-sized which means there's not a huge amount of room for luggage but definitely doable especially with what felt like new beds. Pedestal sinks in the bathrooms didn't leave room for your personal items but did give the bathroom a little more feeling of space. As most of our group were high school students, we also appreciated the sense of security that the hotel provided by posting a gentleman in the lobby at the elevators to check for room keys before allowing people to go any further. The New Yorker is right at the corner of 34th and 8th, right across the street from the subway, and, for our group, within walking distance of Time Square, Broadway, and Rockefeller Center when wearing comfortable shoes. The Tick Tock Diner could be entered from the hotel or street 24 hrs. a day which was very convenient. When we arrived before check-in time the hotel had two of our rooms ready so our baggage could be stored and we could go into the city without delay. Due to our group size, we were also able to keep bags at departure time in one room while exploring the city for a couple more hours before our flight. From start to finish the New Yorker Hotel went above and beyond. If we should book another trip to "the city that never sleeps", we'll plan on resting our heads at the New Yorker Hotel!

the only thing we liked when we stayed at a suite at this hotel was the atmosphere. There was no way to control the heat in the room because the thermostat was broken. The shower was gorgeous but did not have a shower head! The valet took 45 mins to find my car when we tried to leave. The hotel requires a $300 deposit for the room which they did not tell us prior to coming. We also reserved a smoking room which we did not get. Guest services were rude and spoke in other languages. Just an awful experiance

what a fabulous hotel, everything you needed was on your doorstep. the service and the hotel reception was excellent. we was right on top of all the shops we needed. cant wait to come back. thanks for a great stay.

I stayed here once in 2004 and it was very dated. However, I just stayed here this past weekend and it was great. I made sure I asked for a renovated room...very clean!! It had a great view of the Empire State Building and a large screen TV! The location was fantastic. Also, the front desk clerk was super friendly. She told me two times, "Welcome to the hotel" and "Welcome to New York." Then, since my mom and I had to check out but be in New York for the whole day, they held our luggage for us so that we wouldn't have to lug it around. PLUS, we got to the hotel early for check in, and I mean EARLY. They told me check in was 3 pm, but thought it wouldn't hurt to ask when I got there at 1030 am....they put us in a room right away! How nice! I reccommend this hotel to anyone. Merry Christmas!

Stayed here early Nov '07 with 4 other girls on a shopping trip. Found the location to be fab-even a first timer in New York could work their way to and from the hotel with ease. The staff were fine, although we had to ring down one evening as a man (he was another guest at the hotel)cornered one of us in the hotel corridor and found it hard to get away from him. The staff didn't do too much. The rooms were bare and basic and a bit on the cold side at night. They could have done with a better cleaning service. Would stay here again moreso because of the location but would try to find an alternative.
