Shilo Inn Suites Hotel - Ocean Shores, Ocean Shores

We have stayed at the Shilo on several different occassions and if first impressions say anything it says that this place needs a good spring cleaning. The aquarium in the lobby is filthy. Its salt water and has not been cared for properly in a very long time. The pool and floor around the pool was just gross/nasty. Someone is not doing their job. The other thing I saw was that families with young kids take over the pool. They are in the pool and the hot tub throwing balls and splashing and I was even hit with a ball. This is the managements fault for not observing what is going on in and around the pool. However , they are running a huge risk of somebody getting hit and hurt seriously. That might be something they take into consideration before a bad accident happens. But this is just an idea ! The place is very run down and way over priced. We stayed in Orlando for cheaper then it cost for a night here and it was a much nicer place then the Shilo Inn. From what I have seen of Ocean Shores it is very run down and almost every place in the whole town needs a revamp. If your going here for a quiet get away I would suggest a top floor room other wise you are going to have kids running over your head in the evenings and mornings.

Rooms are large with a great view. Restaurant was nice and prices were about average for the area and quality. Buffet was not what I would call a buffet and was glad we checked it out before ordering. The rooms have definitely had there share of wear and tear which is to be expected but the size is well worth the price along with the view. The two biggest disappointments were the beds and the swimming pool. As soon as we walked in and looked at the king sized bed my husband and I started laughing. We could see where others had been lying for years before us. The spaces where we were supposed to lay were well defined for us by lumps in the bed. It was hard as a rock too. It should have been flipped at least but NEEDS to be replaced. On the fold out couch my 7 year old chose the floor over the mattress. That's how uncomfortable he was. But the worst was the pool. It needs a good scrubbing. My father was chief engineer for another hotel for years and trust me that pool would never have been used in that condition. Above the water line the scum is clearly visible, you can scratch it with your fingernails. The white tiles are gross, the whole things needs a dose of hydrochloric acid and a good scrubbing with a wire brush. On my next visit I probably won't stay at the Shilo, there are too many other places to chose from in the same price range that may be a little more comfortable and have a little cleaner pool area. I may change my mind after checking out a few of them and see if the Shilo cleans up there act. But for grown up fun I thinl I will try the Quinnault and with the kids there are cheaper alternatives.

I think they try, but not hard enough for their prices...there are lots of other places to stay. It took 45 minutes to check the two families ahead of us, with more adding to the line and no extra help available. Rooms are nice, but a beach environment is hard on such places. Dinner looked great in the pictures, but was lacking when it arrived. I ordered the Rib Eye, for $33 you would expect a nice cut...nothing like the pics, and it wasn't cooked as requested. I wouldn't have paid more than $7 that piece in a grocery store. The host seated myself and my two nearly adult girls right between two families with infants and toddlers with a nearly empty restaurant. The two complementary Merlots were good, and the 20% off coupon helped. The location is great, but even with the highest prices, don't expect the best. I think the folks here still think of themselves as small time, when just a bit more pride and service would take them to the next level. Maybe a beach rental house next time...

I own a vacation home in Ocean Shores, and decided to try the breakfast buffet with other family members. Overall, we were all so disappointed! For $11.90 I expected the works. There were a few meat choices, biscuits and gravy, potatoes, day old pastries, and fruit. I've never been to a buffet that does NOT offer pancakes, waffles, or french toast. I felt like for $11.90, there should have been an abundance of choices, and would have rather give my money to charity!! My recommendation (along with other family members that ate with me,) eat somewhere else for the buffet.

didnt stay their thank god but ate at Shilo and relaxed by the fire ,,the food was cold veggies were not cooked all the way waiter said the heat lamp bulb was burned out ...the napkins smelled like frier grease NOT GOOD !! building was leaking by the door employees smoked next the door service just sucked ! overpriced for what you get but look where your at i guess...

We really enjoyed our stay with this Shilo Inn - was one of the best visits! Service and staff was great and the room was wonderful. Nice view of the ocean - room was clean and very comfortable. We would stay again, definitely.

This shilo inn is one of the best ones around. The service is pretty friendly. This place is usually pretty clean too. About every room has a perfect view of the pacific ocean. The only problem was that their prices are kinda expensive. If you want to go in the pool, you should do it later in the night when it is less crowded. Overall, it was a great experience and can't wait to get back soon!

We stayed at this Hotel on Sunday June 29th , 2008. Lobby looked nice and clean. Carpet in elevator was filthy, the room was not what I expected for $178.00 a night. It was really showing signs of wear, banged and nicked up. We called the front desk from our room and no one answered, had to walk down there to ask for a corkscrew. We asked for a top floor room because they have the best ocean views from the balcony. Well the balcony, the railing and the chairs were all covered in bird droppings, looked like they hadn't been cleaned in quite some time, gross, so we didn't enjoy the balcony. Resturaunt has overpriced for food that is not fresh. My husband asked for the halibut and chips, he was told they were out of that. We had coconut prawns which had no coconut or coconut taste. The server spilled half of my martini on her hand and didn't offer to bring me another one.so bad prices, food and service. The icing on the cake was several days later we noticed a seperate charge to our checking acct. of $1.50. My husband called them and they said that one of the bottles of water was missing from the room(which they leave sitting out with a little sign saying welcome to Shilo and $1.50 price tag.) With what they charge for their rooms the water should have been complimentery. We did not drink any of their bottled water. They said housekeeping reported one missing. He said than they must have drank it. They then agreed to remove the charge from our acct. We will never stay there again ever!!!

When we got there..the front desk was empty.I think we waited about 15 mins before someone show up...It was late at night..We had a hard time getting to our room,,,which was not made up..We decide to swim but hot tube was broken...pool looked little cloudee..we decided to swim...later that night my son got a bad ear ache..we had to leave that next morning early...will never go back...!!!!!!beware...

At the counter they have rental agents that are just too busy doing other things and not paying attention to customers in front of them. They don't even acknowledge that you are there until they feel like it. The room I had was suppose to be non smoking, as soon as I walked in there the smell of smoke just covered the entire room. The location is great, pricing is not so good, service and cleanliness need to improve. I recommend the Best Western Light House Suites or Ramada Inn.
