Not as bad as people keep saying.
I had originally intended on staying at the Grandstay, but it was a bit pricey. My boyfriend looked around for places and found the Brookstone Inn. We got a room that was meant to be $71/nightly, for $35/nightly, instead. When we got there, there definitely is a smell in the lobby, but it's really not such a bad smell at all. The lobby is nice with a clean microwave, cereal (from 6am-10am), drinks, tables. The staff is really friendly. Not once did we have an issue with them. In fact, they were pretty understanding in every situation where we had any questions for them. The room was really nice, the bathroom was nice. The only real issue with the bathroom was how cold the floor was, but all that said, it was pretty humorous to watch my boyfriend keep putting socks on just to go to the bathroom. The room was extremely clean, we got a free fridge after requesting it, and room service came every morning whom were also very nice and friendly. The only thing about that is that I think they come a little too early, but all that said, they are definitely friendly people. The Brookstone was close enough to a few places to eat in walking distance as well. Between McDonald's, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Coney Island, we weren't ever out of a place to eat. I would definitely stay at this place again. It has a very "homey" feel to it. If you're used to getting Hilton Inn or something, you may be disappointed at your expectations. It's NOT a luxury hotel, but if you're just looking for somewhere to sleep and somewhere where people are friendly and it feels like home and is good on a budget, this is a good place to go.
