South Branch Inn, Moorefield

I've attended family reunions and weddings at this hotel. It's a great place for hosting your next social gathering: - convenient location - large, clean rooms for your event (the wedding had 150-200 folks and there was plenty of room for tables as well as a large dance floor) - helpful, friendly staff - plenty of guest rooms for your out of town visitors

Lobby was very nice, shame we can't say the same about the room. We were given a room in the back and told to park in the back of the hotel. The outside lights did not work, very dark and unsafe. Wasn't told no elevator. Pillows were flat, plastic, like hospital pillows and made noise. Continental breakfast was a joke, no wonder no one was eating it. Manager apologized for everything but didn't do anything about it or give us a break on the room rate. Made us feel like we weren't good enough to stay in the motel or in one of the newly renovated rooms.

I am the General Manager of the South Branch Inn Moorefield. I am responding to the review left on 5/31/11. We have 100 rooms, 50 rooms on the first floor. We do not have an elevator. Any guest who needs or wants first floor can just make a request and we will make sure they have a first floor room or even a handicapped room. Our continental breakfast has several types of bagels, english muffins, danish that is not stale or old, fresh apples and oranges, oatmeal and grits, a variety of Post and Kellogg cereals, orange juice, milk, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. Our hotel was renovated 5 months prior to this review with new paint, wallpaper, carpet, curtains, bedpspreads, etc. We are a very clean and nice facility. We have many local, state and federal events at our facility, including the "WV Governor's Taste of West Virginia Event". Many important dignitaries stay at our facility including the governor's office. We have excellent ratings from our local health department and AAA who surprise inspect our facilty every year. The fitness center has a large picture window, TV, 2 treadmills, an exercise bike, a fitness ball, a weight set, an exercise mat and free towels for guests. It is open 24 hours a day for guest's convenience. We are well known in our community for offering the finest accomodations and great customer service. Please check out our website for photos. If you are coming to Moorefield on business, please call your local business representative who can confirm what a great place we have. Our rooms begin at $85.00 plus tax per night. Deluxe and Suites with Jacuzzis are slightly higher. I am sorry this person is upset, but we have no record of a complaint during that weekend. I would have loved the opportunity to have spoken to this person about any issues they had. thank you, general manager

Overpriced No elevator--I'm 73 yrs old and had to haul two suitcases up the stairs Continental breakfast = stale sweet roles and day old coffee plus cold cereal Rooms stink Noisy--walls thinner than tissue paper No help from clerks Claims a fitness center which is a joke Like? Absolutely nothing!

When we checked in our room had a strong odor. The staff was very quick to move us to another room. I must say we have never stayed in a hotel that stated on the back of the door that you had to be quiet from 8:00 PM to 8:00 AM and that you would be charged $50.00 for any mud left on the floor. There were no irons in the room. You had to request one from the front desk and then go and get it. On the positive side the room was clean and nicely furnished. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. There was a very nice restaurant within walking distance and the food was very good.

We attend a family reunion each year in Mooresville, WV. Each year is always a wonderful experience. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean. We plan to stay there as long as we have our family reunions. Check it out - I think you will be very pleased.

The reviews left me a little apprehensive about our stay. Fortunately we found the motel better than anticipated. Staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean. Not real up-to-date and fancy, but clean! The breakfast left a little to be desired, but still quite acceptable. Could have used a little more variety and selection. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

No irons, disappointing decor, outdated facilities, no elevator, cheap danishes for breakfast, uncomfortable bed and linens, dim light in the bathroom (probably so you can't see the mold), dark green carpet hides the dirt well, until you allow your infant to crawl on it which causes his feet to turn black with soot!!!! For all of the signs stating take off your shoes, someone obviously is not listening. It is a shame the area doesn't have a franchised hotel available to put this overpriced hotel in the motel business where it belongs!!!

The place is clean, but pricy. The place feels more like a hostel than a hotel. There are signs everywhere that tells you to be quite from 8pm-8am, a large sign on the back of the door states they will charge $50 if you dirty the carpet with muddy shoes "This includes construction workers" and "You would walk around your home with muddy shoes would you?" All the "Facilites" That they have are kept locked so you have to go to the front desk and wait for them to unlock them. Overall the place is not inviting or welcoming.

The staff is great and the rooms are clean. We visit Moorefield quite often and have never had a problem. They have a very nice breakfast with plenty of choices. A pleasant surprise in a small town.
