Travel Inn, South Lake Tahoe

I got a great price for Travel Inn (previously Econolodge) in South Lake Tahoe for $46/night for 2 double beds on orbitz. Once my friends wanted to join, Orbitz no longer had available rooms at the same place. My friends called Travel Inn directly and got a rate of $59/night with a confirmation number. Once we arrived, the person in the front desk who referred to himself as the "owner", refused to give my friend the quoted price and charged him $99/night instead. The "owner" stated that quotes/ reservations on the phone were invalid and unreliable. He refused to contact his usual desk clerk to confirm the quote. Given that it was a holiday weekend, most hotels were full so my friend had no choice. The rooms were cold/ heater wasn't working well. The shower water fluctuated back and forth from cold to hot by the minute. The TV only had one channel. The rugs were dirty, and there was garbage under the beds; no available garbage bags in the trash cans. When asked for additional towels, the "owner" said their maid was not going to be available until 9am. The day after we arrived, the "owner" said that he spoke to his "boss" who agreed to give my friend $20 for his inconvenience, stating that it was "still a good deal" given that it was a holiday weekend. We had fun skiing but had a terrible experience at the Travel Inn (Previously Econolodge). We will definite never stay at this Travel Inn again.

everything was clean, and how you'd expect a decent hotel room to be. paid $45 bucks/night on a weekend...i couldn't complain. slept well, heater worked, never ran out of hot water, and on top of it all, it was easily accessible and close to all sorts of attractions such as ski resorts, shopping centers, restaurants, and casinos.
