Great for families
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/21/10
We always go here every spring break. The rooms are nice and so is most of the staff except for one manager who would not allow us to pay for the room up front and was rude about it but the other manager did and was very helpful. The only problem we have ever had was with maintenance of the rooms. The fridge would not work and the sliding door was broken. They did notify maintenance immediately but nothing was fixed during our stay but that was only for one occasion. I would however recommend the hotel to anyone since they are great about kids and it does have superb professional personnel . Some other hotels in the area treat families like the plague. We just wish the bar was open during the break but because of the economy it is open only on the weekends during our stay. I would give it 4 out of 5 stars.

Great place to stay
By Sylvia Hayden, 10/6/09
This hotel is the closest to the beachl Wonderful views from the room and the restaurant. The staff is so helpful and friendly. From keeping our bicyles in the room to having comfy beds the stay was great. The hot tub is actually hot for true relaxation. We have had a wonderful experience. We had the best oysters I have ever eaten at a restaurant. It is not the closest hotel to the convention center, but it is still in walking distance. We would definitely come back.

SOOOOOOOOO GROSSSS!! MILLIPEDES EVERYWHERE!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/16/09
We got to the room and it looked amazing, it was a suite w kitchenette on the bottom floor room 103, you go down the hall past the pool all the way to the end, thru a door, it was the only room with an outside entrance which at first I thought was kinda cool but a little weird. We paid a pretty penny for our room and at this point it was nice, we had a view of the ocean and were right along the road to get to the ocean. We were gone most of the day and when we returned we got into bed when my friend started screaming, she had a long black millipede on her. And then she noticed another on the floor and then we noticed they were everywhere. EVERYWHERE we counted at least 30 of them, a total infestation!!! The night desk woman told me that they have had problems with them before especially in that room. Which made me wonder why they would even let people stay in that room? We went out to the front desk and after calling all the hotels in the area (took about an hour and it was already 2am) the front desk woman remembered a woman had checked out earlier and we got her 2nd floor room which the front desk woman promptly cleaned and gave us......NO BUGS! thank god. We are a little better now 3:45am but if I ever stay here again it will most certainly not be on the first floor! I just think it is completely wrong and disgusting to be selling a room that is known for having a major worm infestation to people and charging them as much as the regular suites, it should be offered at a discounted rate and disclosed ahead of time that these things could be an issue when the sun goes down and it gets cold outside. some people (my friend included) have serious phobias to these types of insects, I would not even stay in my own home if I had this major a problem. She and I were completely traumatized and I keep thinking I am feeling them as I type because they were just so gross, its making it hard to sleep. I am going to attempt to get a late check out tomorrow as a comp to our terrible night that we have endured. At least we are getting our room comped, but I think we deserve much more.

Great but a little spendy
By Julie, 5/29/08
We got the last room for that day, it was a king with a jacuzzi tub. Great room, "ocean view", no immediate access to the beach. Room was ok but it and the restaurant were just a little over priced and at the very end of the beach so not really close to "town".

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/9/08
We love the Lighthouse Inn. We try to go once a year, usually in February. The staff is polite, helpful and friendly. The rooms are always clean.. We love the fact that each room has an ocean view and a fireplace. Love this place.

I'll check out another hotel for our next trip
By Scott, 4/16/07
Went here on my honeymoon. Called the front desk manager the day before I checked in and told her that I'd really like to make the trip special for my new wife. I asked her if there were any packages available, or anything she could think of. She became very rude and stated that I was getting a military discount I shouldn't get because I wasn't on business (Best Western's corporate website says that I don't have to be on business to qualify). She then told me that there was nothing they were willing to do to help. The water in the hotel is disgusting. I went to the store and purchased water for drinking. Taking a shower wasn't very pleasant either because of the smell of the water. I know that Ocean Shores is not known for it's clean water but if the hotel had a filtration system it wouldn't be an issue. On the plus side, the room did have a good view, the linens were outdated but on par with Best Western. The person I dealt with at the front desk at check in was polite. No room service, even though there is an attached restaurant.

Love the ocean?
By Heidi K, 6/2/05
This was a great place to stay. No other buildings lie between you and the ocean. Open a window and you can hear the ocean all night long. Here you are within walking distance of the beach, horseback riding, and other activities. If you want a bit of exercise, the main street is just a 15-20 minute walk. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Both check-in and check-out were quick and easy. The lobby offered a variety of information that was easily accessible. All-in-all, it was an enjoyable place to stay.
