We checked out early ...
I booked a few days in this hotel, taking a suite on the top floor. We had never been to Killarney and thought this was the best available. It was very disappointing for a few reasons. The television in the room was old and cracked the whole length of the side, it was just waiting to explode, we got it replaced, by another broken old tv! Some of the furniture in the suite was top notch (the bed) while other pieces were obviously picked up at auction for 20 quid and you'd find better in an old school. The bathroom was old and quaint but not in a nice way, it seemed like the suite we got hadn't seen a penny of investment in 20 years. It was spacious mind you, there was a little sitting room with a fireplace where we got to relax and that was very decent. The kitchette was modern but had no cutlery etc and we couldn't make a baby bottle (it was just the kitchette, no micro, spoon or plate).. The tv in the sitting room was also old and there was no dvd player or the like. For the price we were paying we expected so much more. They do have a lovely pool and superb outdoor jacuzzi I seem to remember (it is over a year since we stayed there). Staff were friendly in one way but definately didn't like the children staying, I don't remember exactly but I seem to remember my wife coming back to the room upset because someone had said something to her about our child in the hotel. Anyhow, after 2 nights we quit the place in disgust (we started looking after 24 hours), we originally had five nights booked I think and went over to the aghadoe heights hotel and we have never looked back. We have been back to the heights again and again and again and the reason I'm on this is because I'm thinking about going back again while looking at alternatives! I hear the european hotel (I think the name) is just as good as the heights, so maybe will give that I go for a change. My advice is, don't go there, go to the aghadoe heights if you can afford the killarney park then the other is probably within your range too. If you insist to stay in the town centre then all I can say from my experience is you are wrong to do so. The restaurant in the k park was also very good (I nearly forgot).
