Miami Sun Hotel, Miami

the low price is not worth the expense and torture of dealing with the bites and treatment required to avoid an infestation when you get home. I stayed here one night, February 17, 2012. Five days later the lines of bites were obvious all over my body - literally from my fingers to my feet. Many of the marks are still showing, and I'm still unsure if we have avoided an infestation at home. Do not stay here

This place is disgusting! Drug dealers, crack heads and prostitution on every floor. Susan the owner/manager knows about this, but yet refuses to do anything about it.

I came to Miami for a few nights before going on a cruise. I figured I would see the city while I was in town. I needed a place to stay that was cheap, in a central location close to the sights and not too far from the Port of Miami. I found the Miami Sun Hotel and was happy with my choice. The property is old but clean. My room was very simple. I looked at other hotels in the area and the Holiday Inn was around $180 and the Miami Sun Hotel was only $50. I adjusted my expectations to fit the price. It worked out fine. The location was in the center of town. I was just blocks from Bayside, Bayfront park and American Airlines arena. When I checked in the staff was friendly. The desk clerk helped me with maps, what was the best to see in town, bus schedules, great place to go on a budget, etc....There is free wifi in the lobby and also in some of the rooms depending where your room is. I asked for it and had no problem getting online. There is parking in the city lot across the street. For evening parking it was $5. All in all I was happy with my stay and would stay there again.

Dislike: Anything that was made of cloth was stained. There were bugs in the room and the staff were the most rude people I have ever met. Disgusting! Like: Nothing, I left after an hour.

I found Miami Sun Hotel online. The prices were about 30 to 50% lower than others in the area. I paid around $48 per night. I was very happy with my stay. The staff was friendly, helpful and the location is in the middle of downtown close to everything...especially the clubs. Club Space and the 24 hour club district is down the street. You can take the free metromover and it will take you to the club district. This way I didn't have to worry about parking or driving. The hotel is just 2 blocks from Bayside Market and American Airlines Arena. Bayside has many restaurants, tours, boats and live, free music every night. The Miami Sun Hotel was basic and clean. My room had all new bedding, sheets etc...They were nice and modern. The room was simple but it is what I expected for the price. Private bathroom, tv, ac and phone. No frills but it was clean and worked for me. There was free WiFi which was nice...... The staff was friendly. It is a family run business and the family was very nice. The helped me plan my day, told me about the Miami insider information ie Best Happy hour, Best cheap seafood eating places, coupons, best sights etc...It made me feel right at home- You don't get that in the big corporate hotels that I usually stay at. All in all if you are watching your budget this is a great place to stay. I would stay her again....

Simple, clean room in Downtown Miami. Free Wifi. I got the weekly special where you pay 5 nights and get 2 Free!!! What a deal!!! I got to vacation for a week instead of just the weekend. The Miami Sun Hotel is about half the price of the other hotels in the area. Great location. Easy to get around. I would stay here again. The staff was very helpful. Room simple but it worked for me.

Me and some friends decided to take a last minute trip to Miami for Memorial Day weekend. Almost everything on South Beach was booked and I found this hotel and thought the prices was great and it was. So when we touched down and walked into the hotel it looked ok. So I got the keys and finished the check in process. Before I took my own bags up I said to myself let me go look at the room. IT WAS A HOT MESS! It was cramped, the blankets on the bed had holes in them, and lord when I pulled the blanket back to check the sheets...TERMITES. I'm a FB junkie so I took a pic and headed down the stairs b/c the small elevator scared the crap outta me. The Chinese lady at the desk put her defenses up soon as she saw the expression on my face coming around that corner. I told her what I saw and that I wanted all of my money back. She told me that she could only refund me for one night....I was two seconds from jumping across the counter by now but i took a deep breath and said in the nastiest nice way that if i did not get my ALL of money back it would be problems for her and that the pics I have of the TERMITES IN THE BED would be all over the net before I walked out the door and the health dept was walking in. She said the only way she would refund the money was if I deleted the pics..so I did but I still called the health dept when I checked in my other hotel. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. THE PRICE LOOKS GOOD TO BE IN MIAMI BUT BELIEVE ME ITS NOT WORTH IT. I WAS ONLY IN THIS HOTEL FOR 15 MINUTES AND WOULD HATE FOR ANYONE TO STAY OVER NIGHT!!!!

I need a place to stay before going on a cruise. The hotel is just 2 blocks from the Port of Miami and right in the middle of Downtown. It was close to all the sights, South Beach and Bayside/Hard Rock Cafe was just 2 blocks away. I only paid $50 for the night. Way less that all the other hotels- they were at least $100 for about the same location. The room was basic but it fit what I needed. The room was clean, new bedding, WiFi, the staff was very helpful. If you are looking for luxury....this is not the place, but if you are looking for cheap, simple and close to everything this is a great place.

Miami Sun Hotel is in the middle of Downtown Miami. I could walk to American Airlines Arena, Bayside, Hard Rock Cafe, Port of Miami and very close to South Beach and all the sights and nightclubs. The hotel is cheap...about $50 a night. The Holiday Inn 2 blocks away was over $150 per night. If your are looking for luxury this is not the place. If you are on a small budget this place is great especially for the location. The room is small, very basic but it was clean. For the price and location it can't be beat. They had free WiFi and the staff was very friendly and helped me plan my day, get transportation, directions, bus etc..I will stay there next time I am in Miami.

It was horrible! it was literally a crack house!!!! me and my boyfriend stayed there in march 09.. we asked for a smoking room! it was digusting there were junkies all over the 4th floor it was so creepy! the shower was disgusting we had to take a shower with our flip flops on.. outside of the hotel were only homeless and junkies.. it was so creepy. Please do not go there. it really isnt worth it! my boyfriend asked the receptionist if the hotel was some kind of crack house her response was she giggled and said welcome to miami! it smelled so bad! the elevator was so creepy! it was so bad i told my friend and my boyfriend to go down through the stairs that was a horrible mistake as we were going down we saw a woman who looked and was a crack head i got scared and she saw it so she yelled at us and said dont ever go down these stairs theres a lot of addicts around! OUTTA CONTROL! please dont go there.. nobody wants to go to the GHETTO especially when your vacationing!
